I should clarify - i am not out of sympathy with your aims nor unfamiliar with the type of music you're interested in making, and when i mention tonal and structural elements it's not because i think this should sound more like pop or chiptune or what have you but just because this kind of music is, imo, more interesting when it's more dynamic than this. If you disagree, cool; you gotta make music that satisfies you first & foremost.

also, "pretty" is not intended as a backhanded compliment, i think pretty is good. Sorry if i sounded dismissive & peace to you.

a nice chill listen - I'd dig some more tonal components and/or some larger structure / morphology to the individual tracks but it's pretty

this is pretty cool - i enjoy people using these old keyboards. "Electro-Industrial Giant Rabbit" has a cool Aphex-Twin-meets-Super-Metroid vibe. I'll keep listening.

DRAGON WARRIOR is a coalition of bargain-bin electronics, human bodies, ghosts of old Nintendo games, and a miasma of apocalyptic unease who just needed a ride someplace. This is their first album, containing: songs about the moon, songs about the American southwest, songs about made-up places; miniature Tangerine Dream soundscapes, bleary guitar-pop gems, soulful soft-rock ballads; and all the Casiotone beats you know & love, from "beguine" and "bossa nova" to "samba" and "swing".

you ever notice how if you listen to the wrong note long enough it starts to sound like the right one?

the world is dizzying! the world is terrifying! we did not create ourselves! come on, let's dance!

this is an album i made, inspired by N64 Zelda games, Earthbound, the Velvet Underground, etc. I mostly used a bunch of crappy 80's Casio & Yamaha keyboards. There is some MuddyGB in there too. Is it chiptune? Does it matter? You decide.

this was very fun to make and will not be the last of its kind, for better or worse.

That's okay! I'm glad you're finding buyers.

could you define "slightly circuit-bent"?

this is different & i like it

it's an off-kilter mixture of a lot of different things and i can't say they all make me happy but i think it's cool that they're all together and the end result is idiosyncratic & fun

I find that it's easy to get stuck trying to polish and rework tracks and that can get really unmotivating after a while. It can also be easy to get stuck in a rut trying to make songs that mesh with other songs I've already written. It's important to me that I start new things without the strong expectation that they'll turn out a certain way. Often new stuff turns out better than I expect it to, and it's a lot more fun than circling around the same old ideas. It may help you just to put on some finishing touches, release what you have, and make a clean start. YMMV of course.

Your track seems well-done, but I don't really like dance music generally so I'm not qualified to give you much input. I hope things get better for you!

It's a little uneven but has some real nice tracks on it, especially "I came as a diplomat" and "...And the abyss gazes back". The cover art is pretty too.

the auto-accompaniment on old yamaha keyboards is often hilarious and usually the best bit. hours of fun to be had jamming out melodies over some old japanese man's idea of "country techno" or whatever.

haha, yup I've used the auto-accompaniment from my portasound for black metal; I'm surprised the tempo gets fast enough to emulate blast beats!

You looking for previously unreleased tracks only?

When I first played Joe & Mac on the Game Boy, I was surprised to hear the sound of a dinosaur roaring. Not just a cheap FM imitation - the real thing, in digitized audio.

surprised they had the budget for a real dinosaur tbh
