Hi, this time for MOD music enthusiasts and ATARI lovers.

After 2 years - some teasers of the oncoming new album:

Factor6 - "Rasengan!" (only a fragment here).
More chiptune-like song.
4 channels (ProTracker_ST). Quality: 50 050 Hz (with the Paulo's player).
http://ym-digital.i-demo.pl/YM_DIGITAL- … AGMENT.mp3

Yerzmyey - "Meteor Rain" (a full song).
Totally not a chiptune style. wink
6 channels (HexTracker). Quality: 21 942 Hz.
http://ym-digital.i-demo.pl/YM_DIGITAL-Meteor_Rain.mp3

All recorded from real hardware, ATARI 520ST (pure ym2149 of course).

Greetzzzz,
Yerz

Yyyyyyyyyyupp. I've just tested it.
ProTracker STE eats RAW, 8bit, mono, signed samples.
You can change extension into *.SPL to have it all easier.

PS: It loads also IFF files but then You hear a small click on the beginning of every sample (the header). So I don't recommend, unless You convert it to RAW described above.

Theta_Frost, _133:

Returning to the proper subject of this thread, it's worth to add that that Octalyser takes such a sample format: RAW, 8bit, mono, signed (I use mostly 16kHz and 22kHz).
If You'd be interested in ProTracker too, I can check it out later (although I presume the format might be the same).

...and talkin'bout oldschool digital music from Atari ST... wink

So - I rather don't complain for for the regular ST sound. smile
Although there is some small bug in Hex's engine (slides are... somewhat hoarse. But maybe it's impossible to get better from YM chip while playing 6 channels? Hm. I dunno.

Sukie:
Hey, thanks a lot! wink
I'm glad You dig the stuff. smile smile

All:
Thx guyz. wink

505:
haha, no - I was holding the camera then. smile They were my friends fighting, heheh. wink wink
Anywayz, yes - that's NeoTracker 1.8. Not very comfortable but finally gives good sound.
This stuff goes from one pokey but also can work with sound-cards or add-ons, like covox and so on.

XyNo:
Heh, yupp, we were something like 15 years old when the 'karate' fragments have been made. wink

Chunter:
Exactly, I often make electro and techno-pop, I'm on the _massive_ influence of German music for over 20 years now, heh. smile
Our coder of that time - Mono - made a challenge for me and he stated that I surely will not be able to make a regular electro song fit in 64Kb of RAM only (Atari 800XL).
So I proved him wrong, hahaha. smile

Thx man.

Ask the coder and try this one:

Recently I found some videoclips of 16BIT band (the one from 80s) and they were mainly related with Amiga 500. I stated that if Atari XL/XE doesn't have such a thing yet, we might try to do that.
But in this case - with music recorded from real Atari machine. smile
Entire video work has been made by Larek (with my veeeery small 8mm movies help).

Larek has made a videoclip to ATARI song "Tokyo Gondwana" (electro/techno-pop).
Enjoy. wink

(It's worth to set some better quality of playing btw).

Post Scriptum:

Theta - actually there is no conversion required, You just take Amiga's MOD and load it into STe.
And check out if everything's plays OK. That's how I found out that Octalyser handles MODs so well.

Also, to add 505's infos, while preparing stuff for last SillyVenture, I found that the MOD engine most compatible to original Amiga's one, is indeed Octalyser (in 4ch mode), It plays in very good quality and if some MOD doesn't work on ProTracker STe, then I test it on Octalyser (if I use STe machine).
What appeared: Michu's track didn't work on any 4ch tracker of ST/e - and it worked great on Octalyser.
So it would be my part of advice, to add it to 505's notes.

I'm also very glad that people get more interest in Atari tracking, what can I say - You guys will not be disappointed. wink
I wasn't.
Also communication with PC is really easy, with regular diskettes (simply format it into 720K and it work just fine on ST/e) or HxC SD (there's a converter added).
Another way is an external harddrisk in form of satan/ultrasatan, where You save/load with SD card (there is a small prog for PC required to extract files from ST/e to PC and back, called "Drive Imaging").

Yerzymey: Did you take a look at DBE-Tracker from Sector One? It is pretty amazing on STE, software mixing up to 32 voices if I remember correctly - you can guess the replay quality though. Anyway, impressive replayer. Also good for checking som PC formats like basic S3M/XMs on STE.

Well, I was very interested in this engine but somehow I don't know how to use it. I mean, there is some strange bug-like feature. When I load samples and try to use more channels (8 for instance), the sound is very painful/grainy, exactly like from 1-bit generators ( http://parishq.net/proposed/sound/miste … _world.mp3 ). it sounds like this track from ZX Spectrum 48.
But what took my attention is, that when I load on DBE my 8ch modules from Octalyser - the music plays correctly, just like on Octalyser! Now that's strange!
I was trying to find any 'switch' in options, that might be responsible for audibly different way of the channels' software-mixing but... Nothing. I can't find anything.
The phenomenon appears even on Falcon 030 (even more strange then).
I regret because making something like 16ch song for a regular STe would be coooooooooooooool.
Best wishes,
Y

PS: Oh, the guy wrote, as I can see: "YES! it works amazingly!!!!!
i love it, the samples on MPT work perfectly!!!"
So here might be Your solution indeed. wink
We were using this stuff while making "XL-Digital" demo (and album). My friends coded the stuff.
