The initial batch sold out a while back. The good news is that they are now back in stock! And even better, they're gold plated now! Snatch em up while they're hot

Are you talking about this: http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/piggy-midi-diy-kit

If so, I'd be happy to assemble it for you free of charge.

I'm looking at one of these bad boys:

It's basically an MSX with a built in FB-01...

keytar gone!

The 8-bit Guy did a little video review of this on Youtube. He really barely scratches the surface, but it's cool to see all the same! Check it out

That's neat but why wouldn't we just use milkytracker?

This kind of posts are slowly destroying Chiptune software engineering.

Honestly I have no idea why you'd use this over LSDJ wink

15 shipped!? Those ain't light my boy.

Eh, I picked it up cheap from the thrift. I'd rather have it go to someone who will use it than some video game resale store or the garbage.

Replacing all the caps can't hurt.

just want to say that I love the FB01 and I highly recommend it. basically the same chip as a sega genesis!

You should do an ep of exploring audio about it! Unless you already have?

I dont have experience with the pocket chip, but I have played with a regular chip computer and they're doing an absolutely fantastic job with it. Getting the VM set up to interface with it was a little tricky, but once it's ready to go the thing just works. Completely opposite my experience with a raspberry pi. Plus it's all open source, i think the chip is the answer to a next gen arduino.

I just preordered the pocket chip. I suggest you do the same!

So it's not really a rechargeable arduinoby then right? It's a gameboy with a built in arduinoboy that also has a rechargeable battery?

My 2 cents: I never really got the point of a rechargeable battery in a gameboy. Seems like it's a lot easier to just bring some spare batteries to your show than it is to show up and realize your gameboy is dead, and then wait for it to charge. In a pocket they make a little more sense since the energy density of a li-poly is a lot better than two AAA batteries. Like my SP for example, there's no way of knowing the charge level until it goes into the red.

If you do do it, I suggest using the regular DC jack of the gameboy for charging rather than trying to rig a USB port in it. You can get those USB to DMG cables cheap these days.

Oh or are you just wanting RCA jacks to plug into your mixer or something. In that case, still not worth it IMO. Just get a cable the goes from 3.5mm to rca.

IIRC, doing a prosound on the GBA isn't really worth it. Like it doesn't do anything. Joe Bleeps was playing around with it a while back and I think that's the conclusion he made.

If I were you, I'd just pick up a copy of Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen and call it a day.
