It looks like if you have unread threads, it will show favicon3. Otherwise it will show the first two.

I can't tell the difference between 1 and 2. My guess is the phpBB wants them for something.

Nice work!

I too made an LSDJ cart label at one point. Here's the image:

Nice album! Wizwars sounds like Fat Mike to me.

What are you using on the gameboy? mGB or LSDJ?

If recording is your only problem, you could always send the LSDJ save to someone on here and they could record it for you?

Yo man, personal story. I spent all my time in the chiptune scene modding gameboys since 2011 and had close to nothing except for half-songs. I moved from California and have been working in Taiwan for the past year. I brought all of my chiptune gear with me. I know that I never really made anything super great but my goal was to eventually be good at making chiptune music that I wanted to hear. I purchased a CRT TV, a Super Famicom and a Super Gameboy 2.

Dude, same exact boat. Well, I'm not in Taiwan, but still. I have a few demos that sound great but I just can't get myself to finish anything. I entered the 80's comp on here hoping that would encourage me to finish a song finally!

Those links are a huge help, just what I was looking for,
If I can't get it working I'll hit u up about your kits. (although I'm sure I will have no problems now heart  tongue

No problem! Let me know if you have other questions.

1. The schematic Trash80 made is confusing. I recommend looking at this video since the schematic for IN is the same but it explains it better.

http://www.notesandvolts.com/2015/03/mi … utput.html

2. Leave pins 1 and 4 floating. In Trash80's schematic 7 is floating as well, but nitro2k01 recommends connecting 7 to ground through a 4.7k resistor.
http://blog.gg8.se/wordpress/2009/07/26 … -glitches/

3. Leave all the extra midi pins floating. If you want to ground them you probably could but it's unnecessary.

Shameless plug: I'm selling kits here for pretty cheap that include a PCB so it's easier to hook everything up. If you're interested hit me up.

Looks great man! You didn't need my help after all. Is that ribbon connector supposed to be off center like that?

I would try to bring that bottom up as close to the arduino micro as possible so you'll save a few bucks from doing it at OSH park.

Do you have plans for a ground fill?

Great stuff yet again. Thanks for this release! What's your setup like? MS-DOS? Did you swap the HDD for a CF card? Do you use a mouse or is adlib keyboard only?

I'm an idiot, can you sum up what exactly Deflemask is and what it's capable of? It can export various roms for playback on hardware right?

If you want to sync to an NES famislayer is your friend. I have no experience with it though. http://www.heavyw8bit.com/famislayer.php

If you want the most flexibility MIDI is really your friend. It's not just for going to a PC. You could use LSDJ to control an external synth or drum machine. With the impending release of FaMIDI, you could also control your NES with LSDJ. I mean for most chip instruments there's a MIDI interface of some sort, so they'd all be able to talk to each other.

DISCLAIMER: I'm selling arduinoboys. That will get you LSDJ midi in and out, nanoloop midi in, mGB, and more. If you like building electronics then it could be a fun kit for you to build. I just didn't want this to sound like shameless advertising because it really seems like an Arduinoboy would be right up your alley.

What about having terminal screw ports?

For the link cable connector? The current design actually has that, but I just soldered the cable in because I didn't want it to come out. Would that really be easier than a straight up link cable port? Then you wouldn't have to butcher cables.

I really like the terminal screw port idea, so much that I would even like it for the female midi connections. Would definitely make it easier to break out to a more robust build.

This, in conjunction with what herr_prof said, has me thinking I would like to do two kits. One would be as small and cheap as possible, and one would be bigger and more versatile. The bigger one would be the shield style like I sent you. I'm thinking about having both footprints for midi jacks, as well as footprints for screw terminals. Cost wise, the midi jacks are among the most expensive components, so that's cool with me to cut that out. Having said that, if someone really wanted to put their kit in an enclosure, they could just not solder the jack and instead use a panel mount midi jack and solder the wires into the pads. But again, there's plenty of room so on the next version I'll add the screw terminals for the midi jacks.

I'm trying stuff out on a Raspberry Pi, and this is what I am aiming for. I have a broken board from which I can desolder the link port, but wouldn't this be quite expensive for a kit, unless the link port is some standard port that you can buy individually?

I actually found a supplier of new GBC/GBA link ports! So it wouldn't increase costs much and you wouldn't have to butcher old boards!

would it work on an everdrive n-8?

Probably, google vegaplay rom and try it out.

Gene_sis wrote:

Yes just like that. Lol would you know what cartridge would be best to do this with

Best and easiest bet is using Infinite NES lives' boards. Looks like Vegaplay is just nrom so use this board: http://www.infiniteneslives.com/nessupplies.php#NROM

If you email him he might even flash your rom onto the board for you. He also sells shells.

Beyond that, I know nothing about vegaplay so you're on your own.

Something like this? http://no-carrier.com/index.php?/vegaplay/

Nobody wants to snag one early?

Would it be cool if instead of cutting a link cable, you could just plug one into the arduinoboy directly? As in, you'd actually solder a link port onto the PCB? Or would people rather solder them right on?

Still looking for a few more beta testers.
