FL Studio is a very good adaptable modern DAW, unfortunately people keep calling it fruityloops and forcing it to keep its old reputation.

Unfortunately, I'll be honest with you that it's very difficult to live-loop-record anything. It's pretty good for triggering pre-made songs on the fly, but not so much for writing them live. It's great with midi and you can link things up really well for live effects and stuff.

Also take a look at Ableton Live for live loop recording, I think it works quite well for that sort of thing.

This is a really sweet idea! So much more could be done with tracker files in a dj setup. I wish I could use this for something! Keep it up!

^ while that's great, I'd also say getting a stock laptop should be fine. A better soundcard is really nice, but running famitracker there'd be no point. Also if you're going to be running inputs, I'll echo An0va and say go with an interface (then you get your soundcard and mixer together, kind of). Any modern laptop has the power to do whatever really. As far as a DAW goes, if you want to branch out from chip stuff eventually, I highly recommend FL Studio. It's very powerful and is easy to pick up. Despite it's stereotype, it is now on par with almost any other DAW out there and can do a heck of a lot more than just techno. It also does MIDI very well. If you're interested, PM me and I can get you a discount on it.

Ya people have been trying to replace the cookbook ever since it went down.
Most recent effort: http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/4131/ … or-iphone/

More likely a glitch machine haha, just loaded tetris onto it and it can't even run it at half speed for me. Not recommended.

I'd love to have a non-iPhone version of this for all of us technologically ancient enough to not have an iPhone haha.

I love how there are still new gameboy carts coming out these days haha, it cracks me up.
This would be fantastic though, my laptop doesn't like the drivers for my EMS cart and I'd love a more elegant solution that digging up my old desktop for data backups and transfers. Get this thing released as soon as you can!

No, It can't be! It's propaganda sent to us from aliens to drive us all insane!!

Oh wait, cool it. It's actually real, sweet, I've been taking it for granted that I just have to wait, well! No longer!

*Sigh* Why are there no major cities in Saskatchewan? I'd rather not drive a day and a half to do a show.
I should get people to surrogate for me and perform my songs in my stead, if only fun could be sent home with postage stamps.

Oh okay, that makes sense thanks. I had actually written off the Wasp plugins as being too oldschool but looking at them now I realize they're quite powerful. It also helps that they're FL Native because then Slide notes will work for pitch bending.
Out of simple curiousity what are some of your favourite effect plugins? I use LoFi+ quite often for bitcrushing and use FL Overdrive for my distortion.
Thanks.

I often throw wave channel patterns onto a pulse channel just to see what it sounds like. I've recently gone back and cleaned up several of my past songs too so I'll agree with you that they're not always finished.

Apart is amazing! You use FL Studio correct? What kind of plugins are you using? I find it very difficult to gain such a level of control over traditional plugins (as far as wobbles and pitch bending).

I hear some browsers are working towards removing discrimination on the web and are filtering all usernames to be anonymous. I'm hoping it's just a fad, but I really agree with what they are standing for.
