Anyone think it's silly that you have to upload something to use the site? I mean, it increases activity, but still; forced activity?

I've been curious lately, I'd like to ask those of you who've done a few live shows; how much do you usually get paid for a show? Do you take shows for free just to get publicity? How long is an average set? Thanks.

We should roll our some sweet conversation and push the downloading of our awesome tunes so we can keep up the activity. Also, if someone would kindly change 8bc's 404 page to redirect here, that would be useful.

Up till now I've been getting chip releases based on word of mouth in the chip community or from 8bc, here, etc, however given the huge variety of styles that exist within chipmusic I'd love to have a source that can narrow down the amount of music I need to sift through by bringing me releases of the styles I enjoy. Can you guys list some of your favourite chip netlabels and roughly what styles they are/standards they have? Thanks.

I love my EMS 64M cart so far, there was a bit of sav corruption once, but I had everything backed up so it was a non issue. The only problem I've had it getting the drivers to work on my Win7 64, the last time I tried putting it into test-mode like they tell you to my system screwed up and had to system restore. A little discouraging, I wish the licensed drivers would come out soon, I haven't tried again since, so  I haven't been able to connect it to my PC lately.

I don't have much to say about the compos themselves, other than that if you want to do one I highly recommend using http://compo.thasauce.net/
I've entered compos using that site before and it's usually been quite smooth. The deadlines, uploads, cutoffs and voting are all handled on the server, so it's a lot les organizational work. You can easily see all the songs in the competition and vote and comment on them. Here's an example of a what a competition page looks like (this one is finished): http://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/OHC100

I actually enjoy having a lot of the limitations that are there, it inspires creativity and adds to the challenge and fun of it all.

I'll write the melody skeleton of a song with a lead and a couple accompanying parts in about 30 minutes when inspiration hits, then I go back and listen compulsively to what I did for like the next week without changing anything. Then I work relentlessly for like another 5 hours picking away at it.

I prefer my chippliness vocal-free, but good production nonetheless.

I'm having the same problems with the panning clicks, I've definitely heard people use it without the clicks being noticable. Anyone know how it's done?

Hey man, welcome out, still loving "Why so serious" from way back, glad you made it here. Downloaded.

It is unfortunately a little sad, I uploaded my latest song to here and 8bc yesterday, so far I've gotten only 1 comment and just 3 views here, that's miniscule compared to 87 views with 12 comments over there, out of those comments I've gotten at least 4 good pieces of critique. Say what you will, but 8bc is still a valid resource.

Looks like some sweet plans in development. I hope you find time to keep working on this. I love to see things keep moving forward. Now if only my EMS cart would work with Windows 7 blah.

No, it uploads on time, however it's uploaded to the server under the same name as the past avatar, so your browser tries to save time by using the old one instead of downloading it again. if you cleared your cache it might show earlier, but it does upload.

You should team up with Woolyss and keep a current list forever.
