Get free items as a gift, sell them on LIKE A BOSS

if Low-Gain wants to whine about it he can, though AFAIK it was more about reclaiming his closet at all costs than about giving gifts. If you want to low-ball me by asking for it for free+shipping then do so. Your call. I just need it out of my room ASAP.

AHEM. Yes I am serious. If you think it's unfair of me to sell this stuff I got for free then PM me with your offer of $0, and if nobody else wants to pay me for the effort of sorting and testing everything and even bothering to ship it then you can have it for the cost of shipping.

Heh. What's wrong? Here is my list:

1. Everything.

End of list.

OK, so I have finally had a chance to get through as much of that big Commodore stash I got from Low-Gain as I can. Here is what I got and approximate prices for each: (BTW, I give an approximate price because the rules here say I have to. Feel free to low-ball me if you don't like my asking price, or raise the stakes if you want to bid someone out.) Oh, and before I forget, I'm open to trades if you have cool stuff, especially vintage computer things. (Not interested in commodore or amiga stuff or DMGs. I am interested in GB Pockets, Apple 2 stuff, Dreamcast stuff, Neo Geo stuff, and possibly other things. Oh, and if you have a Twinkle Star Sprites cart to trade you can have it all and more. Not that you will.)

Two floppy drives, one in box with foam and manuals, one not in box but also with manual. I tested them out and they seem to be working. They could use a good cleaning. I think I have cables for both. I need to check. $20 plus shipping each. (they are HEAVY)

I have also piles of software. If you buy a drive (or two) I'm happy to include a random assortment of disks and accompanying manuals for FREE. No, I don't really want to sort through the software to find specific titles. But there are some nice bits in there so you can make sure your drive works and play around.

I have some game cartridges. Centipede, Choplifter, Radar Rat Race, and one with no label. They need cleaning to work reliably, but they all work except for the unlabelled one. Buy all 4 for $5 plus shipping, or get them for the cost of shipping when you buy something else.

I also have a Music Composer cartridge with manual, sealed into a plastic bag. If you want it sealed I'll leave it alone. If you want me to test it I'll rip it open. $10 plus shipping. (reserved)

Two commodore basic books: "I Speak Basic to my Commodore 64" and "Basic for Beginners." Buy them both for $5 plus shipping or get them for the cost of shipping when you buy something else.

I have a couple of tape drives too. I dunno, maybe you want to use them for target practice with your shotgun. Just pay for shipping and they're yours. (1 reserved, 1 remaining)

A DataShare 300 Modem, untested with no manual. $10 plus shipping.

I also have a C64 mouse. Untested as I have no software for it. $10 plus shipping. (reserved)

Also a mysterious midi interface. I know it's a midi interface because it says "MIDI INTERFACE" on the side. Looks homemade. No idea if it works or how to find out. This one I am going to post with an experimental price of $20 just because I have NO CLUE. I emphatically do NOT want this to wind up on eBay if someone here can use it, so pooh pooh if I'm breaking the rule about not having a definite price. So oggle it well and see if you can figure out what it is and how it works. If you think it's worthless and want it for less you can PM me. Also, if you are a C64 wizard and think you can learn some stuff from this I'll give you a better price. I'm looking at you, little scale.
(reserved)

I have some more stuff which will be available soon, mainly C64 main units for parts. Sorry, I'm stealing the SIDs for someone else, but keep an eye open for the rest if you need other C64 parts.

I have. Though not for GB. Some of my NES abominations might be called bootleg carts. big_smile Also, Neo Geo bootlegs are the ones I see most often, though I embrace them for their insane inexpensiveness.

Ooooooo fun! The old 68k Macs are fun little machines to play around with, even though it honestly sucks as far as music making. The Mac Classic is even worse for audio than the Apple IIgs, being forced back to 8 bit mono pseudo-wavetable synthesis (driven by the CPU IIRC) from the "inferior" IIgs' 16 bit Esoniq wavetable synthesis with 32 channels.

However, I find the charm of the machines to be less in making music and more in other things, like the early software titles for games and productivity. But then, I am a big retro computing nut. big_smile

Why does this refer to Mario too?

I'm very sorry if you don't like the title. It has nothing to do with mario, which is why it's supposedly funny.

Your call uB.

I lurvs u all so much! heart heart I haz present for u!

Who you calling a jerk?! LOL

nitro2k01 can give you all the details on the bleepbloop GPL violation fiasco, so give him a PM. There was tons of info on the 8bc forums at one time, but Jose nuked it to protect himself. As for the chances of you getting a normal EMS cart I'd say it's fairly high. And if it's not working, Kitsch will almost certainly accept a return and either replace or refund. He's awesome like that.

EDIT: we try to avoid bringing the Jose-bashing into CM.O since alot of people here got booted/offended by Jose. So yeah, PMs will be good since most people here have heard the story too many times.

Oh, and for people wondering about the compo- this is not a Bossa Nova compo. smile It's elevator music. IE, keep the drums subdued, keep the beat from getting too exciting, we don't want people dancing inside the elevator. Just the sort of soothing tunes you need to keep people from going crazy in a crowded elevator. The bossa nova/jazz elevator music is a common cliche because it works really well there. Keep it up everybody!

EDIT: and if you mix it so it sounds like it's coming out of a crappy ceiling speaker, so much the better.

Oh lovely. Didn't know he was still violating GPL. Good to know.

The problem isn't old caps in the DMGs making the EMS carts freak out- AFAIK it's in the cart itself. Bad caps in the DMG does things like make the power supply less efficient and more noisy and degrade the sound quality. Bleepbloop carts don't have a bankswitching thing like the 64m EMS carts do, so they won't behave like this, however you may wind up kicking yourself if you buy a bleepbloop cart. There have been serious supply issues with bleepbloop carts, and Nonfinite has so many customers that people sometimes slip through the cracks. So you could wind up paying and waiting for months. Also, for me at least, the bleepbloop carts have a tarnished name, having been developed by stealing someone else's work. However, it's your decision, and alot of people are quite happy with the new redesigned non-GPL-violating bleepbloop carts.

If you do decide to buy an EMS cart, buy it from Kitsch. He ships faster and he's got good customer service. (Shameless plug, I know. Get over it. big_smile )

Got tracks from uB and 8bitweapon now. Might be curating some tracks into the compo as well, some courtesy of Trash 80.

EDIT: doh. Trash80 already submitted that track to the compo, so I guess I don't need to curate it in. OK, so I got 1 from uB, 1 from 8bitweapon, and 1 from Trash80. And I need to clean my inbox out so it won't overflow again. tongue

uB, is it OK if I use your other jobim-esque song too? That's also just about perfect for this compo.

Yeah, it's a server client mismatch. You need the same version of Skulltag that all the other MM8BDM users (or rather, servers) are using. AFAIK those Skulltag builds for Linux should be ready, but I dunno about Mac OSX. You could always compile it yourself if you're feeling impatient.

In other words, it's not a Nonfinite light. tongue

I tend to agree that the RGBva is somewhat behind the curve, though not by much. I tested one for Kitsch, and to be perfectly honest I really really like the idea a ton, and the PCB design for the adjustment board is very clever and extremely nice. I agree, the spotlight effect leaves something to be desired, though obviously some of the Nonfinite kits had this same problem. Even multi led kits have issues with this, mostly because the DMG lcd is not meant to be backlit, and it really shows. Personally, I'm looking forward to a thinner one that'll work in GB Pockets, since I only had a pocket to test on and the kit just *barely* didn't work right. It was too thick. Second the motion for MK II. big_smile
