I have a pocket Vblank on the way. What were you using as the source for the red and white squiggles? Also what mixer are you using?

Could well be right. The Wikipage lists a moog and and arp but isn't specific about which models.

A conversation in IRC about the merits of Milkytracker and FT2 prompted me to wonder if anyone has any preference for one over the other and if so why? I am learning Milky and rather enjoying it. Just curious if there were any specific reasons to choose one over the other?

Re: An Absolute Beginner's Guide to Chip Music (19 replies, posted in General Discussion)
It would depend which kind of aesthetic you would like to go for. There are bunch of different approaches. Is there a particular chip or old school computer or console you like the sound of?
I mean for example if you like the sound of the NES I would direct you towards Famitracker or Neil Baldwins tracker and tell you to listen to Tim Follin and Chibitech.
If you were more of an Atari ST fan I might show you Maxymizer and Stu.
It a bit of a broad question, could you narrow it down a shade?

Topic: Problems with MIDI set up (renoise/CZ101/FB01) (4 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I have a bit of a problem getting all my midi stuff to play nice and wonder if you chaps could help me. I have
1 - Yamaha FB01 w/MIDI in/out/thru
1 - Casio CZ 101 w/MIDI in/out
1 - Edirol UA25 MIDI interface w/MIDI in/out
1 - PC running Renoise 2.5
I would like to be able to do two main things
1 - Send MIDI from Renoise to the 2 synth modules which is possible thus:
Interface MIDI out - > FB01 MIDI in - > FB01 MIDI thru - > CZ101 MIDI in
2 - Use the CZ101 as a (very) basic midi controller for the FB01 which is possible like this
CZ101 MIDI out - > FB01 MIDI in - > FB01 MIDI out - > Interface MIDI in
Problem is I can't do both at the same time as the CZ101 doesn't have a MIDI thru.
Basically I want to be able to send midi from renoise to both synths and use the CZ101 to play notes directly back into the MIDI interface, the FB01 or itself. The CZ101 lacks a midi thru and I dont quite see a way arouind it. Any help most appreciated.

If you are looking for decent verb/delay pedals, the RV5 and DD7 from boss are absolutely stellar. A little pricey but oh my you get what you pay for.

Tokyo
Hard to know where to start with this town, lots of good stuff but a few things
+ vibrant underground music scene
+ fucking spectacular video rental stores
+ safe/cheap/convenient
+ food is pretty healthy/awesome
+ you will NEVER run out of amazing new places/people to meet
+ People are passionate, talented, friendly and generally fucking awesome (provided you make the switch in thinking)
+ Govt basically leave you alone most of the time
- Mainstream media challenges even UK daytime TV in terms of banality.
- RADICAL shift in thinking required to live here without getting really bitter. (see post by the dude on Kotaku who just left in a big hissy fit)
- Summer heat.
- You really need to learn Japanese to live here (I view this as a kind positive though).
- Mens attitude toward women
- Womens attitude toward mens attitude towards women
- No fig rolls/jammy dodgers/bourbons/quality street/twixes/crunchies/double deckers (again possibly a plus)
