Hmmm, pretty interesting sound. I'm liking the bass. So I'm guessing that since it's running on midi, you could sync this and another piece of hardware through the midi software?
Yep, in theory, you could get any midi sequencer like Renoise or Piggy Tracker or Open MPT and use the FB01 for some of the sounds and hook it up to another device for samples or even a gameboy with Nanoloop or LSDJ for some additional sounds.
Yeah, In general I concur with the idea of improving spending time with your equipment rather than spending money on more gear.
Scuse me, sammich sid to build....
I'll gladly throw in a few bucks for this if somone has a paypal account I can sent cash to?
I admit this is pretty damn niche but it might be useful for a couple of folk. A patch/bank editor for the Yahama FB01 appeared on sourceforge fairly recently and the stable version came out a couple of days ago. The only documentation thus far is in French but Beware and myself both have FB01 units and the editor up and running and are slowly working out the functions.

The FB01 is interesting cause it has a YM2164 chip which is very very similar to the YM2151 sound in some of the Japanese earlyish computers like the X68000 and Sharp X1. Said computers are hard to find, expensive and very sparsely documented in English. The FB01 on the other hand is cheap as chips and common as hell. The only downside to it was that the (I think) only editor was for the ST. Hopefully this editor will make the machine an interesting option for people.

Actually one final point, or observation if you like, people seem to think a hell of a lot about their first tattoo and a great deal less about their second. I thought about my first for like years, the second for about a week and the third for about twenty minutes.
Last bit of advice, your body doesn't really like being tattooed very much so being very well rested, ie good nights sleep, and very well fed, as in a nice hearty meal before hand its a very good idea, it kind of cushions your system a bit against the trauma. I got my first tattoo horribly jet-lagged on an empty stomach and passed out. I am apparently a bit of a legend in Tampa City now. While getting tattooed, take along a bunch of podcasts, nice and absorbing and kind of takes your mind off the pain.

thoughts?
Sit on it for a few years. Tattoos last a lifetime.
I concur with this advice. In general, if someone asks a specific question when im talking to them about a tattoo like "which shade of brown will make these green leaves stand out more?" then thats great but the kind of "should I get this tattoo?" or "what do you think of this design?" style questions usually indicate the customer needs to go home and think about the design for a bit longer. Basically, if you need other peoples opinion on whether to get a given design or not, you probably would be better advised not to get it until you are sure. Any good artist should tell you the same.
Yet more fuel for the "why major record companies don't deserve customers" fire.
Yea you can! Got mine this morning.. if the altest version is buggy, whatas a good version to test against that isnt so buggy?
sweet, I'll order one tonight
Just ordered an EZ-Flash IV from here (several other options as well): http://www.realhotstuff.com/ezflash-size-p-294.html Finally!
Can this be used as a stand alone gba cart? say in a GBA micro?
Hooray! my FB01 arrived today, I was out but I will get it redelivered this weekend.
What do you mean? I haven't posted a single tune yet!
But in all seriousness, see this cup? Watch while I fill it with overflowing lurve
One neat little thing you can do with live or song mode and this isnt something I have heard people talk much about is altering parameters while playing. Altering "Q" in wave instruments while a song is playing is alot of fun for sweepy type stuff.
Utterly awesome set, really really loved it.
im looking now but im going to say almost certainly not, it looks too recent.
I put up a post in this thread about toshiba laptops a few days ago.
http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/76/th evolution/
I can't find the exact model you mentioned but looking on the detailed specs for two other 1800 series laptops they both use variants of something called an "AK4543 Codec Chip" which doesnt look very opl3 to me unfortunately. That being said, toshibas website it most helpful and lists the actual sound chipset on the few machines I looked at.
Ok, sorry this is what I was looking for
