Actually, I just had a though, while there is totally merit in the "net labels are curators" idea. I can't think of any netlabels / labels (other than a couple of double Aside places like metrodub and soundslegit) which cater to singles. That is one thing which the 8bc chart had over net labels.

I'm kind of torn between seeing the merits of making it easier to identify the cream in the huge repository of tunes at cm.o while wanting to avoid the hassle/extra work of doing that.

A third party blog/tumbler/podcast seems like a great solution. Those who want to read it can, it isn't a cm.o site so it should keep any drama discrete and it wouldn't be any more work for the admins.

Thanks man! I have a couple of follow up questions. What is the diffference between patterns, tiles and characters and what is a chr file?

I am starting to dabble a little with some of Nocarriers awesome NES tools but I am struggling a bit with some of the terminology and basic concepts. If someone who knows their stuff (shiru, no carrier, batsly, animal style) could do an almost eli5 like explanation (or link to one) of things like what's a tile set / name table / chr and maybe clarify the limitations with the palette I would be super greatful.

I have had a look around in the nesdev wiki which has loads of super useful info but it seems aimed at people who already passed NES graphics 101.

Thanks!

Edit - I have read this http://nesdev.parodius.com/nesgfx.txt which covers some of the concepts but it skates over them pretty fast...

Seems there is a split between people who want a curated list of good/popular/liked tracks and people who dont.

For the people who do want such a list, why not step up and start a "weekly best of cm.o" thread with a rotating curator? See how that works out?

I want a Telefuture sew on patch to put on my denim hotpants

If you want a gb memory cart, they really arent particularly rare in Japan. Google "yahoo auctions proxy bidding" and you will find a list of sites which will help you bid on auctions on yahoo Japan. There are a couple of gb memory carts on there now.

Just be aware there were a handful of games which were only released for the nintendo power system (like metalslader glory) so if the auction has a rare game on the memory cart is might go prety high.

GoatTracker with a hardSID card is also a very good option.

This, a hardsid UNO will work fine with gt and it will be considerably easier to get running. They are only about 150 euro.
