Hm...  i think i found something that was making the thing chug a bit...

In my tables i was using the A command to send the cursor to another empty pattern (this was a short kinda plucked table with the W command  only for like 4 ticks on the square)

instead of making it go to an empty table i just used the H command to make it loop shorter - it resolved the problem...

Maybe we should get Johan to make a list of the commands in order of how much CPU they drain ...so people can optimize their songs for the DMG-01 or whatever they're running.

Logain >> i noticed that about the V command - i wonder why that one is so CPU intensive - probably because its reading another waveform?

So - anyone have any problems with too many tables in LSDJ - i have on occasion actually used this trick to slow the gameboy down a bit (its a little more organic sounding than using tempo controls) - but for this new tune i'm composing... i'm sort of having a problem with it.  basically i have a table on every channel.  one of the instruments in the WAV channel does not have a table - whatever.  so - i  was wondering if there might be a RAM mod to fix this or something.  like swapping out the RAM chips on the cart or the gameboy.  Might also allow for a higher BPM in LSDJ (which is a complaint i've heard before).  stupid idea?  impossible? CPU won't allow it?

"They actually buy cds of this now"  - fucking classic > douchebag in a suite.  the music was good - the "Chip's Ahoy" banner was not.

Someone asked me about this the other day and i had to send them to 8bc - i would rather send them here.

1. Get the GensKmod

2. Run ROM

3. In the File Browser...  CPU>Debug>Genesis>SoundYM2612

4. Select your channel

5. Hit Dump Channel

6. You get a .y12 file

7. Open the .y12 file as an Instrument in TFM

Some instruments have effects applied to them so they may not sound exact...  Also, don't dump an unused channel silly!  I sometimes use ripped instruments as a starting point... but i usually wind up modifying the envelopes... sometimes they have infinite sustain or other things you may not want...  remember don't use the SSG-EG in TFM - i think its only supported for the ZX spectrum.

This might get some noobs using some FM [which i am all for].  After looking at the instruments you might have a better understanding of how to make your own...  sometimes a scratch instrument is needed so don't go too preset happy~!  tongue  More Sega Musicians = AWESOME!
