Use a soldering iron, rather than a hairdryer. I lost about 40% of my screen, but managed to fix it no problem with my soldering iron

Yeah I know - as I said, it works with Akai's app and NanoStudio. However, the software/code/whatever makes the iPod work with this is freely available, so any dev has the option to add this to their app.
Shame about the USB only, but eh. The MIDI functionality isn't the most appealing thing about this anyway.

I found a brilliant video demoing all the features last night - I'll post it in a few minutes. Seems pretty awesome though!

I'm not sure if it has MIDI in - most things I've read just say it has "full MIDI support", whatever that could mean.

It'd be nice to have a pretty cool sounding synth for £75 + £1.19 for the app. Pretty cheap really, haha.
The app has 2 synths and a drum sequencer iirc - NanoStudio is like £9 but has sampling and more effects and apparently sounds better.

Hopefully getting this for Christmas..

It's like a controller for iTouch/iPhone, for software that supports it. At the moment, I believe it's only Akai's own software, and the apparently incredible NanoStudio. Velocity sensitive and modulation/pitch wheels - you can also use it as a full MIDI controller and shiznit.
It sells for around £75/$99, which seems pretty reasonable to me.
Guess this could be a handy tool for some portable musicians who would prefer to play a real keyboard hm?

Yes I know that, but I was simply checking if he'd be against the use of a Casio keyboard, for say, the lead part of a song.
No harm in just checking.

Sweet smile

Sounds like it'd be fun, though I won't commit until I can properly hear the full soundtrack.
A couple questions:
Does it have to be in the same style, or can it be the tracks remixed into a different style?
And I know you say not just chip hard/software like a Casio or LGPT, but would you be against me using, for example, a VL-Tone on top of LSDJ?

Well, I fixed it!

And then got some horizontal lines goddamnit!

Still, there's just a few and they're all at the bottom of the screen so it's not biggie really.
Cheers for your help smile

Is it vertical lines that are fixable that way?
There is absolutely no visible damage to my new DMG, so that would make sense.

So, I was reliably informed the button matrix on my DMG was fucked. Every so often, I'd press one button and several would register at once and it'd be all fucky.
However, I did find this somewhat strange as it had been fine for months previously, and without opening it up it suddenly went fucky.

Anyway, I took my DMG apart to take out the backlight and shit to put in another DMG. I tested it first... And now it works fine! No problem at all.

This is totally bizarre. I have no clue why it keeps breaking/unbreaking. My question is this - is it because of certain points of pressure or whatever, and therefore would I be able to carefully put it back together and use it fine? If not, would I have to replace the back board, front board, or both?

I did buy another DMG, to backlight and use instead. However, pretty much as soon as I unscrewed the small screen ribbon cable, it broke. All I'd done was slide a knife under to start removing the film, but now there are huge vertical borders at either side of the screen. They're about equal - on the right in LSDJ for example, I can only see the first digit of the tempo.
Is this at all fixable, of am I fuxxed?
I've backlit two DMGs before no problem. It's odd that this one should break so easily...

There's a little bit of fuzz with mine, but not so much that it's a huge limit. Far less than out of a DMG.
I keep finding new and awesome ways to use my Monotron - my VL-Tone through it is amazing.
Love it so much.

I love my Monotron so, so much.
As an oscillator, it isn't amazing (though it is fun), however the filter is great. Atari Punk Console through it = <333

Damn, after less than a year? sad
I'll see about getting a replacement - this is the good point about getting an EMS one with the no soldering and whatnot, haha.
Thanks for your help, this had better sort it! D:

Cart battery or DMG?
I'll switch round the DMG ones tonight, though the screen isn't dim or anything like it usually does when it's low on batteries

It's an EMS cart that I've had nearly a year now. I've never had any trouble before.
I haven't opened my DMG for months - ever since I installed my bivert chip like, 6 months ago or more.
Again, I've never had any trouble otherwise.
All other games work fine.

I'm convinced this must be a problem with the sav, or else my ArduinoBoy has fucked up both my DMGs somehow (I think I've only used it with one anyway...)
The cart has always been fine.
The ROM has always been fine.
The DMG, with everything else, is fine.
However, the save file randomly corrupted when I hadn't done anything, and gives me inexplicable problems.

It's just totally bizarre though hmm
