I bet you could find somewhere else to cram a micro pot. I know NeX has put 5 pin DIN jacks on the sides of gameboys, and those are bigger than micro pots for sure. He had to carve away bits of the boards.

Yeah, just experiment with lower values - less bass cut, rather than no bass cut (and a DC filter).

In line capacitors act as a low cut filter - presumably they were put here to avoid blowing out the cheap speaker and/or headphones that came with the gameboy. I assume it's clipping because the low end information is now wholly uncontrolled, and low end information generates more energy.
We'd probably find better results with replacing the resistors, rather than removing them entirely. Experimentation with different values is in order.

I'm not even done listening to it yet, but it's awesome. Very melodic and the music really feels like it's telling the story. This would be amazing with a video.
My only criticism: your human characters in the voice-over are hard to tell apart. You need to develop at least one of them farther, give them an accent, record them separately or get someone else to do one or something.

Personally, I use failed experiments as parts, or to run more experiments.
I'm with wedanced, unless you can figure out how to build gameboys into effects pedal boxes.
