holyshit, and you haven't got a monthly chipnight yet? you could have a seriously beastly lineup.
also, i second what Pixls mentioned of philly. we got, not including special out of town guests: Cheap Dinosaurs (full band), Animalstyle, Alex Mauer, Chipocrite, Ro-bear, Void Vision, Magoni and Chaffel (squarewave), Bucky, The Dutchess, and idk myself i suppose. ya'll should come on down sometime.

also, this is basically the same stupid debate that's been flying around the penny arcade forum recently. if the performer has awesome stage presence, why would u care if he's just triggering loops on stage? some artists (see: every pop 'artist' ever) just get on stage and dance around while lipsyncing, yet nobody in the crowd gives a shit. hell, as long as you give a really good show (see: nullsleep), and your music is legit, i'm pretty sure the audience will dig it. btw, i'm not saying theatrics are the best way to perform, being technically good and showing off your mad dmg guitar skillz on stage is very nice as well, all i'm saying is, u should definitely give the audience what they paid for. fuckin bring the noise yo

obligatory Akira, and of course the watchmen. i read the novel before the movie came out (watchmen) and never actually saw the movie; if you can get around the stupid popularity that sprung up, it's actually a great read about antiheros and power struggles and the meaning of life etc. i was never a big fan of the cheesy american stuff, i know good western graphic novels exist, but never got around to getting the coin to check them out.
but yeah, if you're ok with manga, i have a shit ton of recommendations for you
