Im planning on upgrading from an older nonfinite RBG backlight to  new  ASM one-  for the nonfinite I had to cut the lcd frame, and im looking for an intact one to replace it.   Willing to pay a few bucks to cover shipping or  trades- ( I can give you a deal on a rgb backilight and the appropriately cut lcd frame)

I love how every video game that appeared on  a TV show ever, always has the (presumably free) sounds from from either atari's  donkey kong or pac-man.

here is a fairly simple  arduino based hardware 16 step sequencer with midi out

http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/11636 … sequencer/

for the record- I didnt create this.  just stumbled across it and am passing it along.

I say dont buy everything at RS because it is super expensive (and they have limited stuff like and you'll have to settle for  pot w/ 3" shafts.)  usually at least 3-4x what it would cost from a distributor( but then you have to order more and shipping)

Midi in was my first thought too, but every pin on the arduino is used as is.   It probably wouldnt be too hard to adapt the code to recogonize midi in ( like clock or something) but you would maybe have to give up the audio-out and re-label pin designation. Exchanging midi in for midi out is not that simple- the 'in' has to go the arduino's 'recieve'  (or RX) pin.  Midi out comes from the 'Transmit'(TX) pin  Looks like he is working on Groovsizer alpha  wth 32 steps, midi out etc.

Yeah i hate thos long shafted pots too.  just use a dremel cut off wheel or hacksaw to cut them down.

Here is a little toy that I built this weekend that I think other here may like:  http://moshang.net/soundjeweler_blog/te … and-synth/
- a simple arduino based synth/sequencer controller with midi out and memory for up to 32 patterns.   The thing is jam-packed with fun features like reverse, swing, tap tempo,  transpose + and -, pattern recall on the fly...      Not too difficult of a build - just a bit more  complex than the arduinoboy.  Everything except the midi jack can be picked up at RadioShack- (dont buy everything at Radioshack.)

I third white biverted-  looks purple and grey,  very clear.   teal is my next best pick.    Anyone still make the RGB backlights?  I have a nonfinite one from a few years back - very cool.  Add some trim pots and you can have every color of the rainbow as per your whim.

I just picked up a deluxe memory boy by Electro Harmonix.   Rad analog delay  with tap tempo...(not stereo, tho')   One can use an expression pedal to change delay time, feedback, motulation rate/ depth etc.  Very cool and highly recommended.

Sequential Circuits prophet 600- the worlds first (commercially available)  midi synth.
Dark and moody- does 'dawn of the dead' soundtrack by default.
Has some faults, but overall an amazing analog poly with a very cool arpeggio/ sequencer.
(tho' maybe Im biased - I got mine for free-found it in the attic of an old apartment!)

I know you're all talkin' keys, but this is a good opportunity to mention/brag about my replica 1929 RCA 1264 Theremin (as seen in my profile image)
The RCA theremin was the very first all-electronic musical instrument and the grandfather/cornerstone of all electronic music. Also it is played entirely without touching any any part of it.
I built this one last year  with some parts from  old RCA Radiola Am radio.   Has 80+ year old tubes the size of 100w incandescent bulbs and huge hand-wound coils.   Check out more on my site:   www.charliehobbs.com

Rygar!

"Its pretty much the only option these days to buy used gear from a retail store that has been checked out, has a warranty, and lets you test it out for yourself."

Whada 'bout Sam Ash? .... seriously though....I think that you may have answered your own question.   there used to all kinds of great specialty stores- music, hobbies, even electronic components,  before the rise of intergalactic superstores.

has no one mentioned DuckTales because everyone already knows(how great it is)?

should have spikes on the buttons

fun read.  I enjoyed catching up on  all the drama

Ha! Interesting coincidince-    in pt4, this paragraph:
"We didn’t want to see ads on the website. ... I mean, who wants to see advertisements on a website?"
-appears directly adjacent to the AdChoice box   ( at least on my browser.)

Finally, one I already know.  Trip world is fun= Nice and easy.  Good for us "adult casual" gamers.      Im not into playing games so much either, and I cant cant commit the time to get good at "hard" games anymore, I  just cant play the same level over and over for hours/days on like when i was 10...
I played Gimmick for like 5 mins and knew its not for me.

LSD on the other hand is more my style- been kinda obsessed since discovering it here last weekend.   (BTW-Works great on  the Wii HBC PS1 emulator)

I cant decide if it is just a mess of random fragments of failed game projects, desperately bundled into a "dream emu" as a last ditch effort to release something and recover some cash..... or  if it's the most captivating/ insidious piece of media ever..a la "The Ring" or "Infinite Jest".
It is kinda amazing how a really dated and pretty lame looking game can achieve such immersion. = Ive literally jumped outta my seat a few time when encountering the dumbest shit.  I think that I may have also been dreaming about it a bit too.
Heh.. my neghbor is a big gamer /horror fan and I mention that I was recently got into (LSD- the game).   Usually jovial and smiley( stoned), he suddenly got kinda serious  and said that he couldnt "handle that game",  and " it was too scary." ha!

Anyone know of anything else like this or  play Eastern Mind (PC) ?  It is by the same dude.

Gimmick is amazing, but most people know about it already, right?

nope.  Keep 'em coming!
