please let me know how you got "noticed" or "popular". Thanks in advance.

Dont worry about that shit - you're doing it wrong.
make music for yourself - if its not shit people will listen to it and before long you will have 'listeners'.
dont make music and spend your time worrying that no one is listening. they will in time if you work hard at it from your soul.
when i started out 7 or so yrs back there was no soundcloud and all that shit - i didnt post anything online for 2 years really. just rocked it in my bro's car and to a few mates.
I think the easy sharing of ones music is both a blessing and a curse nowadays.

i think this thought is shared by many here- thanks for saying it well

and remember cmo is just a website.....a website....its not real.
ps - chipmusic is dead. and a member of the chiptune elite said it so its TRUTH
can we all go back to normal now - or this place is gonna have to have a 'therapy / confidence building / don't be such a pussy' self help forum thing at this rate.
a bit of light hearted cyber-bullying is character building. People are gonna tell you your shit sucks alot of times in the real world too. The obvious answer is to practice hard at not being SUCKZ.

Downstate wrote:Infact you can buy the way 'uncooler' and less sought after JX3P which is basically a 2osc Juno for like 300 quid.
OT, but 300 british pounds should get you a mint JX3P with it's original box and documentation. it's cheaper than the PG200 programmer for it haha
okay maybe not cheaper but surely easier to find on the market?
mine has a couple of dead keys and the stock programmer fader doesn't work, i'd be lucky to get 150AUD for it :v
yeah i figure 300 is the bar for one. Mostly around 200 quid on the ebay........but i can only find one in China. I mean ONE ! thing is no-one had money here in the 80's, if you find anything at all of VINTAGE-NESS the chinese dudes will tell you its a grand regardless of what it is. An example is like an SH 201, something that 2 or 300 tops on ebay - is listed at like 5 or 6000rmb (5-600 quid). Same for anything really that might be affordable for me like a JP8000 - they're double here almost its mental prices because they are so scarce.
So yeah i will get the JX3P for 280 quid - not bad, i figure if i get a cheaper one in the uk i have to fork out bucks for getting it on the plane and bucks for a flight case too.
Did you put a midi kit in yours ? Im thinking with the midi kit it will be rad for that price. I dont think i need the programmer thing thats like more than the synth haha, menu work dont bother me much as i grew up using soft synths anyhow, i mean knobs are nice - but not for more than the synth haha

Downstate wrote:seriously, i get what TSS is saying about mods closing shit,
If you think someone (ie me) made a bad call in closing a thread, you are more than welcome to PM one of us, make your case and say why you think the thread should be open. You will always get a reply and, for example, in the case of the "customised gear" thread, maybe get it re opened. Locking a thread isn't a one way street and while I freely admit I personally have no sense of humor to speak of, the moderators are all totally accessible and will listen to any comments / ideas.
no, sorry thats not really my point. my point was more that I appreciate / get it that TSS has his point of view on the matter - that he doesnt care for censorship, and doesnt like the fact threads can be controlled / shut by someone........but it personally doesnt bother me if a meme troll thread is closed..........im way too tired or high to give a shit tbh : P

Re: What's with all the negativity? (162 replies, posted in General Discussion)
yeah, the music section is not what it is on other sites like 8bc. This is like you said more a place to share ideas, post releases and chat shit about geek stuff. No one has EVER understood that music submission rating system haha
also this :
Obviously it's fucking great that information is a lot easier to find now, but it's frustrating to me that the easier it gets for someone to locate this information, the more lazy people seem to become about searching for it. People want to be spoonfed rather than take the time to figure it out themselves or do a damn search. And how is that going to translate to the music they eventually make? If you can't manage to put forth the effort to search for "LSDJ" on Google, how the hell are you going to learn how to program tracks in LSDJ that do not sound like total dogshit?
Spot on dude - thats exactly my problems with forums nowadays.

Maybe I just joined at a bad time...dunno. Maybe I'm way the hell too old for a community that seems to be made mostly of late teens and early twenty-somethings. Or yknow.. maybe I'm just an asshole
i think thats the opposite man, most of the people i know on here - we are all closer or past 30 than to being a teenager. Thats why we hate on the gameboy thangs in jest - because we were alive when atari st's were cutting edge lol
also your name sets you up for abuse so you sort of deserve a fair bit of hassle : P
