I am half the humans in S L V. Its eerie head-nod kind of musics. You'll like it if you like synthesizers and hip hop beats.

good thing about shoegaze is there's really no limit as to how much you can push the dirt. just experiment id say, the whole point of making such a genre id say is that you're pretty free to fuck off the rule book and carve your own style. But totally check out boys club and noisewaves cos those guys did it right !

Check out Falco Lombardi, he did a lot of uncey stuff but the melodies in this remind me of his stuff.
p.s. this is what is 'basically breakcore'
thankyou for showing me what breakcore is oh great one

sounds like it has the total vibe of 'chip-break' or whatever they call it to me, albeit with the absence of an amen breakz...... fiddly beats and chirpy melodies. i guess the promenent kicks and snares are half time, but that percussion makes me nod at breakcore 200 bpm speed. maybe i took too many drugs as a child.

NO.
what i meant was 'it sounds like OP will enjoy some melodic breakcore ish stuff'. I know technically breakcore has to be 22222bpm but this has the general vibe of that stuff, regardless of hyper spaz tempos.
Fuck it - do it properly - listen to some Venetian snares really loud and kill puppies to it.

hmm i dont see that as an option because the JP3X doesnt have midi ? ? I do plan on getting it midified though - but yeah fuck paying for the programmer than the synth lol

i dont have much at all. the fb01 i got for a tenner is pretty well used from time to time.
Id say the jv1080 is worth the hundred quid i paid for it too. its got a lot of shit sounds - but its got some of those classic warp chimes / bread n butter sounds that are so useable. It definately benefits from a delay pedal or something of that nature - i definately get alot of use from it for leads and the occasional pad.
Next week im picking up a Roland JP3X - which seems pretty sweet to me for under 300 quid. Seems perfectly capable of Juno sounds, and got them nice filters. I really have always wanted a real synth to play. The menu editing doesn't put me off too much having been using soft synths forever im pretty used to that.
Next on my list would have to be the Acidlabs 808 clone. man i must have bumped that thing for like 30 minutes continously on my pilgrimage to THAT SYNTH PLACE in Harajuku : )

Re: What's your day job/major? (162 replies, posted in General Discussion)
each to their own but i never wanted to mix my music making with the real world -
so my solution was to come to Shanghai so i dont have to have a job that sucks the life out of my soul (accounting).
I teach small kids by day, its tiring but not really mentally tiring - i finish at 4pm - i have the whole evening where im not stressed on deadlines etc, and i make beats in relative peace.
Everyday. everyday i make music for an hour or so and it keeps me sane.
It keeps me sane though cos im not making it under any pressure, i thought about studying music tech to be a sound engineer or something, but then i realised im not into the nuts and bolts of making music. i just wanna make music if that makes sense, but i dont want to RELY on my making music for commercial shit - cos then i'm burnt out making that crap and cant find enthusiasm for my own stuff.
I dont think that answers your question at all - but just thought id share my personnal reasons on the matter. I have a bunch of friends that do commercial work - its cool i guess, but they're either living the good life or stressed as fuck about where the next job is coming from.
Ultimately id rather a secure job with regualr income so that my music making is a chilled out affair.
