I would've bought it, but I just lost my job today and I'll be broke soon as well.

I know I've already posted this mod in this thread, but I figured it might be worth mentioning that Rhett & Link received the DMG I sent them and posted about it on Facebook. Look at all those likes.
I also sent them a copy of LSDJ and one of Nick Maynard's How to make Chipmusic zines. Hopefully they'll get a kick out of messing around with it.

Topic: Gluing things. (23 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Hey, dumb/simple question, but what do people use when doing things like the kawaii-boy? I know other people have stuck things onto their DMGs and whatnot like this, but that's the only example I can find at the moment. You get what I mean, though. Do you use super glue, a hot glue gun, something else?
And how long would one be able to expect something like that to last?

PianoGameboy wrote:Chip is a medium, not a genre.
I think this is more accurate.
I mean, can you really say that Bud Melvin and Electric Children are the same genre?
One of my biggest peeves is when people lump together entirely different genres just because they used the same medium and assume that it all sounds the same.
I've gotten a few more friends into chip recently by starting them off with The J. Arthur Keenes Band, Anamanaguchi, and the like, and working from that towards other stuff, but if I just started them right out with Part II of Moe Moe Kyunstep, Bud Melvin, or Supercommuter, they probably wouldn't have taken to it as well as they have and moved on by now.

Please do, I would absolutely love a tutorial on this.
It'll definitely come in handy for a mod I'm working on at the moment.

Re: What do you do to pay the bills? (70 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I was a graphic designer in [a store], but business was getting too slow and it got to the point where I was only working 15 hours a week which was only enough to pay for gas and vehicle insurance. AND the store owner has no idea what she's doing and won't take help or advice from anyone (including the president of the company), so she's basically running the business into the ground. It was a fun job but I had to get out of there. The Amazon fulfillment center that opened up last fall called me last month (I did seasonal work for them in December) in the middle of my shift and basically said "Hey, if you want to work here again, here's your new schedule. Show up in two days. We'll pay you $11/hr and you're guaranteed 40+ hours a week and at least six months of work." So I quit my graphic design job that same day and I'm working at Amazon now.
The job sucks, and I have hardly any free time any more (40+ a week, hah. more like 60+), but I have plenty of cash now.

I, however, am totally also looking for a speak and spell/read and if anyone has one/some they are willing to get rid of I can totally take them off your hands. PM me and let me know what you've got and how much you want for them. PMing you right now, Alley Beach.

Topic: Why can't I find any wires? (12 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
Seriously, where do you guys buy wire?
I went to every store in town I could think of from home depot to radio shack to walmart to batteries+ looking for wire to install a new headphone jack and a ps/2 port and couldn't find anything.
And while we're at it, is there any specific brand/style you prefer over others?
I mean, it's just basic stranded copper wire in heat shrink. right?
Is there something I'm missing that I should be looking/asking for?

Re: LCD Streaks? (5 replies, posted in Nintendo Handhelds)
Yeah, just take a soldering gun to it. Most of the time you don't need to even solder anything. The heat just makes the glue under it melt and if you keep gently rubbing the gun around on the top of the cable you'll get it to come back on.

Re: I need an affordable laptop that isn't garbage (26 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I can't really suggest anything for $220, but if you can save up some more I'd definitely suggest getting one of the cheaper laptops from Dell's Insprion line. The basic ones are around $400, IIRC.
That's my go-to laptop for anyone who doesn't know exactly what they want and don't want to go through the trouble of building their own.
IMO it's probably the best prebuilt lappy you can get for that kind of money. Not exactly top-of-the-line stuff, but it'll have a decent video card and a decent amount of RAM. My dad gave me an Inspiron n5010 about two years ago and I still use it for FL Studio and Ableton, as well as Adobe's premium web suite CS4 (photoshop, illustrator, flash, etc.), and Vocaloid. The specs are also good enough that I've played Bioshock, Portal 2, TF2, and emulated a few Wii games on it with without any problems.
But yeah, there's not a lot you can get for 220.
All I can think of for around 200 is a little "eee pc" (this is a brand?) netbook my sister has. It's pretty much a piece of crap and the only thing it gets used for is Facebook. Some of her Facebook games don't even work properly on it.

Ooh, I'd never thought to stick one in the dishwasher before. I gotta try that.
Is there anything I should keep in mind so as to now screw something up somehow, or is it pretty straightforward/foolproof?
