somewhat related:

Scientists and composers have produced a new choral work in which singers sing parts of their own genetic code.

ah yes btw the original buzz is a monster and can be a bit tricky to install. try a remake like buzé for a clean install and more or less same functionality. btw i'd say buzz is quite a bit more powerful than psycle. psycle is a really cool tracker though.

BUZZ ROCKS! used to use it almost everyday, nowadays i'm on linux, so i use NEIL Sequencer, it's basically a buzz remake (not quite as powerful yet but it's getting there)

mwahahaha epic video!

whoa, looks like i finally found a resource about asm that i actually understand. thanx man!

and yes, i use c64 for gaming as well, favourites including trailblazer, turrican, hacker 2, and super nova.

there is no such thing as experimental drum & bass.

4m@ fuck yeah!

BRWHAHAHAHAHAHA good answer my friend wink

ed: hey, that guy's actually keeping up with the bpm!

in a way that's very true. but on the other hand it's also this special way of promoting which makes this release kinda cool. it's kinda like saying, ok, if you're not willing to look beyond the shitty surface, then fuck you, you'll just miss some pretty neat music.

and recently there were a couple of releases which were self-labeled with "shit" which were actually quite decent. (remember the shitbird album that was released recently? that was awesome, too...)

ant1 i think he knows that wink

anyway this release is such a horrible piece of shit no one should even think about downloading it, let alone listen to it. you might end up liking it.

(for zanzan: ROFL)

i didn't say nothing against good old 5 1/4.

just for the record, i have a collection of ca 50 original tapes for c64, almost all funtional.
i've got a collection of about 500 5 1/4 floppies for c64, mostly copies... at least 80% are working and they have been through a lot of shit.
i've also got about 200 3.5" for amiga, both original and copies, more than 50% don't work.

that's the reality, my friends.

besides, it's a well-known fact that on speccy, loading from tape is faster than loading from floppy, if done right.

no hard words about tapes, please. they're a much more reliable medium than 3,5" floppies, to say the least. i have the 1982 demo tape that came with the original speccy (16/48k), it works perfectly fine, which can't be said for most of my 90s amiga floppies.

as for the rest, here's a couple of tricks:

first, if you use real tape, use ferro-tape. magnetic tapes don't work very well and tend to data loss (on c64,magnetic tape can actually destroy your tape drive. fortunately the speccy is more robust). same goes for cheap tapes without proper metal shielding.

i wouldn't be surprised if those ipod adapters don't work too great since they resample the audio and probably tape-head isn't shielded properly either. though i've heard several people say it works. in any case it should be easier to copy your wav to a real tape (at about max volume you can achieve without clipping) and then load from that.

ed: one more thing, the speccy is quite vulnerable to interference, so make sure you put your setup in a place far away from other electronic equipment, and don't try to listen to loud music while trying to load something.

Probably has a beeper-type sound. Useless or pointless to get one for music or anything at all

not necessarily. looking at the center screen image, i wonder if it has a 2 channel flip flop like some of the machines made in GDR. such interfaces existed for altair too, if i recall correctly.

crap, too late. i'd be interested in the speccy, too. i don't need the ay interface, just the machine itself.

yeah, i'm really starting to like this russian new-school noir anti/neo demo stuff.

here's another, slightly more oldschoolish one:

made by triebkraft & 4th Dimension --> http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=11130

very nice work so far, great use of synth drums. but as you say after 1:20 the track is somewhat destroyed. and then it gets great after 2:40. don't really know how to help you over this stretch, but i will tell you my super-secret trick... go and explore a bit more the multiple feature, you can make some "interesting" sounds if you use the right multiple value in conjunction with certain notes. for example, try Mult. 8 with A#2 or A#3, or Mult. 5 with G-4, G#4 or G-5. G/G# is usually a good guess.
