There's loads more consoles and fun stuff but I'm ill and I can't be bothered, so that's a pretty random selection, but it should be enough to get started. If you just stick around a bit, read forums, use google, etc, you'll find the other stuff that interests you by yourself, I'm sure.
Hope I was a bit useful.

I'm helping organise/run it, so probably not going to do a hell piss-up, but maybe afterwards?

We need to get some PR going for the chipscene, tell regular people there are more musicians than pixelh8 about! He's good and all, but he seems to be the only person playing these types of event!
He's a volunteer at the museum and is friends with the people who are organising this, so he was an obvious choice. But you're right of course, there are more chip musicians than him.

Re: Poll: 1/8", RCA, 1/4" NESmod??? (19 replies, posted in General Discussion)
1/4th Detached from the board. Why would one need 3 outputs on a SMS though?
Doesn't it have 3 channels?
I vote for 1/4th inch mono but I'm never going to buy one, I'm just imagining what I would want on it if I was going to buy it.
edit: uh I put 1/8 by mistake...

Re: Recording software question (5 replies, posted in Audio Production)
Reaper is very reasonably priced, as is Energy XT, both of which are very capable for recording multiple tracks and both can use VSTs too. Garageband isn't something to buy, I think, you've either got a Mac or you don't. Audacity (free) is perfectly fine for recording audio and can do multi-tracking, but not for anything MIDI.
As for expensive things, I like FL Studio (don't laugh!).

Topic: Vintage Computer Festival (UK) - 19th/20th June - all ages (5 replies, posted in Past Events)
Where?
Bletchley Park museum, Bletchley. Literally across the road from Bletchley train station, the slow trains from London stop there, but not the fast ones. There's a regular bus service from central Milton Keynes (all the London<->Liverpool trains stop there, I believe).
When?
19th and 20th of June 2010 (edit: this is a weekend)
What?
From the flyer:
"Britain's largest celebration of vintage computing... An unprecedented gathering of enthusiasts and This spam will soon be deleted to celebrate the history of computing.
• Exhibitions of retro systems
• Lectures & Special Guests
• Bring and Buy
• Retro book sale
• Demonstrations
• Retro System traders
• Music and Games
• Museum Tours"
There will be a concert from chip musician Pixelh8. Hopefully there are a few people here who are interested in old computers and chip music.

edit: looks like "Commodore USA" have just stretched the pictures from the Cybernet website and put them on their own website - I'm guessing they're hoping to buy the Cybernet computers, stick a commodore logo on them, and sell them again for twice as much?

Re: This is the worst day of my life. (42 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I do guess that I learned that I have a stronger personal connection to my music than most others do to theirs, and I kind of think that's a shame.
A shame for us or a shame for you?

Re: Definition of Chiptune, chipmusic, 8-bit sound (24 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I think it's pretty good, and I wouldn't worry too much about going into depth on synthesis, all the different consoles and MML, like Beware wants you to, because it's a "quick definition", not an encyclopedia.
