Yup. Otherwise it wouldn't even open them.
Just tested it, and it didn't work.
If I merge existing projects into a new file, this new file is empty after saving.
And if I merge one existing project into another existing project (and save the last), all the patterns get scrambled. I'm using the last Python version on Windows 8.1.

well you know I already lost all of my nano 2.x backup (as I hassled you enough via email) and recreated all of them from scratch. Gone to far on that, and now's it's too late to get back
