that would be kinda annoying cause them you wouldnt be able to use the maxpat editor to change its settings without midi i/o or at least a ftdi header.

so the update can be done thru midi?!?!

/me holds breath waiting for a yes smile

theoretically, you would have to build an FTDI that had midi connectors on it, and it wouldn't auto reset the board, but the midi sockets are connected to the transmit and receive lines of the arduino so they can be used to transmit code in theory.

there are a few problems that i can see though, first of all pin 4 which activates the opto would have to be on, also you would need a resistor on the midi in socket connector to avoid burning out the opto.

if i had some spare parts like midi connectors i could make up a test rig and see if it works. in theory it should but i don't have the resources to try

you may have got a bit of solder on some of the contacts, maybe from the backlight. also if you join pin 4 to pin 6 on the link port you will get some strange control problems, so if there is a bit of stray solder on there then that might cause those problems

i just tried the new version of the arduinoboy software and got the same problem. flash it with the V1 software and everything should be fine

I had the arduinoboy on v1 to begin with but mgb was v2, does this matter???

put version one back on

i just tried the new version of the arduinoboy software and got the same problem. flash it with the V1 software and everything should be fine

finish it first. and use resistors between 220 ohms and 1k for the LEDs will be fine

hey !

I would love to know is it possible to build an arduinoboy just with LSDJ MASTER mode ?
or i need to build a fully featured one to use lsdj master mode ??

>> THANKS !!! ^___^

i can build you an arduinoboy with just midi out if thats what you want. i could even build it into a cable so there is no actual box

i am going to bump this because it is awesome, Nitro that is some genius work re arranging the address lines like that, very clever,

i can totally understand the both of you getting bogged down with this job, and i don't blame you, you are doing what nintendo got paid to do (and they made a lot of money) only more complex

fair enough then, ok i can update them on request, because it involves taking them apart and re testing them, and most people don't have the latest LSDJ anyway,

I thought the new code still uses 5 lights but jsut changes them to all on to indicate the new modes. It should be hardware compatible with the older ones?

hmm i will look into it, it would be easy to update the program

i have never needed to remove the speaker to fit mods in a gameboy, there is loads of space, but yea i normally put the pot at the top, i use a mini pot. very easy to do, i have done it for a lot of people. you can buy mini pots from ebay which fit beautifully
