I recently bought a MegaDrive from a market for $20.
It's in good condition, and shows no sign of damage. Cables came with it.

However it seems to only work when it wants to - which isn't very often.

When it first started up my old one, the TV would show static until you switched it on (which I'm 99.999% sure is normal).
Now whenever I switch this new one on, there isn't any static on the TV.
The screen stays black as if here is nothing connected. Audio doesn't come out either.

Is this a common problem? Can anybody help?

Does the TV screen show static when the console is off and connected?
Mine did that (PAL model). If not, there's a connction problem between the tv and the console.

Also, I seem to recall the carts being veeeery tempermental, so give it several tries if the video connection isn't the problem

So instead of an $80 everdrive, you're going to buy a $80 programmer AND a cart?

wat

I'm sure one of my mates or my IT teacher has a flash programmer lying around anyway.
Plus, If I wanna buy another in the future (which I can definitely see myself doing), I'll only need one programmer for all carts.

Also little-scale, I'll be glad to beta test a cart for you tongue

I suppose you don't really lose anything if it ain't legit

It's legit, don't worry. I just wasn't expecting Apricorn to want to release this so soon.

Sorry for the delay on the CDs. I'll try and get them out ASAP.
If you really wanna make sure you get a copy, get me via email ([email protected]) and I can organise postage and stuff.

I'll submit photos once I get a test pressing done.

Bumping.
There have been plenty of listens, but no sales apart from Apricorn's relatives.

Come on guys, buy it! Spread the word! Smash a window!

What would the problem be with the Everdrive?

The pricing isn't exactly satisfactory at this point in time for me.

You would need an eprom / eeprom / flash programmer to reprogram the chips for my super-simple cart - it's made to just hold a ROM, after all - and not function to be a dev cart proper as such.

That's fair enough. I was kinda expecting you to mention a flash programmer, haha.

I'll still be able to run a simple music player on it though, right?

Keep in mind that you need a parallel port etc for the Tototek ones.

Yyyyyyep, that singles out the Tototek cart for me.

So far it looks like I'll be forking out for a flash programmer and one of little-scale's MD carts.
Along with that and his Megadrive MIDI interface, I'll be set for good tongue

little-scale, you are an amazing man.

All I need is something to hold a ROM - this'll probably be something simple like a VGM playback ROM, or an on-console tracker (if tey even exist for the MD).

Will I be able to refash ROMS? If so, what kinda interface will be available?
Will it be cheap? I might order about three, haha.

I picked up a Megadrive today, and I was wondering what flash carts or similar I could build/purchase in place of the Everdrive-MD ($80 is a little north of my budget at the moment).
I saw little-scale posted a tut for a cheap and terribly simple Master System flash cart a while back. I need something for the MD though.

And while I'm here, recommend me some music tools (on- and off-console). The last time I did anything with a Megadrive was play Sonic and Columns when I was five or six years old.

This is the Newest Album by New Zealand musician Henry Thompson, better known as Apricorn.
His debut album is packed full of beautiful chilled-out melodies that will leave your mind calm and your eyes shut.

Downloads are $4 USD, CDs are $5 USD.

Go and give it a listen. I, personally, think it sounds beautiful. The hairs on the back of my neck just got a boner.

I dunno. I'll have a look on my CGB in a sec

I've put in my resume at aseveral places, so by the time I actually release something, I'll be paying for it myself.

think he means more along the lines of promotion/hype, tour support, etc... pretty sure no labels in this scene are trying to keep artists exclusive to them so much.

Yeah, true. I can't really do much in that sense.

LOL

I'm never touching Kunaki with a ten-foot pole. The site on the buyer's end is waaaaaay too broken (refer to: lack of A FUCKING PURCHASE BUTTON).

In my humble opinion, lsdj 3.9.9 is not that different to 4.5.5. And your tunes may sound different. why do you want to update it?

(i'm a strong 3.9.9 user btw)

I think 3.9.9 and 4.x.x have their fair share of differences.
Just check the changelog at http://littlesounddj.com/lsd/latest/CHANGELOG
