I'd probably stick to plastic for my boys.  Wider color options. wink  I'd rather have you spend your time on cooler projects.  I'll probably still buy some though... haha

I dont know if this will be the year I go LIVE, I do want to share my music with people IRL, however I have a high standard for live performances.

DO IT NOW

Huh, what an interesting project.  Took me a little bit to figure out why I'd want it.  I admit though, it would be nice to just have a GB shell with a cable coming out of the bottom to act as display and control for the NES.  Or PC-Engine, or any of the other applications. wink  Nice work!

andaruGO was dope.  Anti-cheat's was awesome!  Surprised to hear a SMS tune in there... and then wtf? 1-bit from barbeque? Sick.  Of course Baron Knoxburry kills it too.  Wow, I'm just listening through the whole thing and it's swell -- a really diverse sound palette, which is awesome on a compo.  Props to all the artists involved, so many great tunes in there.  I could write something nice about each of them!

This.

I see where this is coming from and it can often be the case.  However, for me it usually functions as a sort of motivation.  If other people know about it, I don't have much choice but to do it. wink

Looking forward to triple SID and psychedelic records from Jellica!

i have spent the last couple years (my first years in chip music) switching back and forth between different platforms, struggling to finish songs, and never settling on a style. i spent the majority of my 2012 musical life listening to lots and lots of music in the time i would usually spend just trying to crank out songs which i wasn't liking. among many many other wonderful artists, i think alex mauer's music really struck a chord with me and i began to doodle in famitracker trying to figure out some of his sounds.

i have found famitracker to be the most natural platform for me at this stage (tho i do a fair bit of work on lsdj also) and i hope that in 2013 i will be able to come closer to the sound in my head. i hope to have many many conversations with some of the pro musicians here and elsewhere and learn a great deal from them and from their .nsf's. and when i move to jerusalem for good this coming september, i hope that experience brings forth some unique music!

Amen!  Mauer is great.  If I could go back in time to when I started chip, I would've picked a platform and exclusively stuck to it for a while.  Continuing to form my identity as an artist is also something I'm concerned with this year.  It's tough not to feel like you're spreading yourself too thin -- stylistically at least.  Have fun in Jerusalem, you could certainly learn about a lot of interesting music there - middle eastern music is awesome!

Happy new year everybody!  While it's fun to reflect on this last year, I think it's more exciting to think about the future.  What plans do you have for this year?  Any things you would like to see come to fruition?

Personally, I have a few releases in the works that I'm confident will actually be released.  I'd like to experiment with more platforms and sound palettes, as well as incorporating my vocals into some tracks.  I'm also hoping to start a monthly chip show here in Milwaukee.  (At least until Radiograffiti takes over. wink )  Of course I'm looking forward to all the new music from my favorite artists.  I'll be keenly interested in ongoing software and hardware development too.

The future is now!  What will happen in 2013?  smile

Pumped for the OSX release.

What is the best .wav settings for sample import?  The piggy homepage only mentions 44.1 khz, but the wiki says all frequencies are okay.  Does piggy convert all the samples down to 44.1 khz?  Currently I'm using 16 bit @ 96 khz.  Am I just wasting space?

Looks like Octalyser is the way to go, thank you guys!  My 1040STe's PSU is broken, so I'm in the process of replacing it - but then I hope to be up and running.  I actually ordered some UltraSatan PCB's for personal use, but the BOM is pretty tough to follow.  I'll have to contact jookie about it.

What is the best sample tracker on STe?  There are a lot floating around.  A 1:1 conversion from the Amiga 2.3 would be great!
