sometimes random can be fun, but i think you need some grounding in musical knowlege to go with it.
i usually just jam out on my keyboards or bass and play from there

i really start to dislike my own music after a while, but listen to it lots while i am composing wip, putting mp3s on my mp3 player.
by the time my last 8bp release came out, it had been nearly a year since i finished it and i had already discovered new sounds and feelings in other dimensions in time and space.

try making a chord with the 2 pulse channels
then make a table that uses the volume channel to fade in and out.
it makes a clicking sound but its quite nice.
the game boy bit on this has lots of use of it, with lots of arps as well.

someone nice here gettin me real frikkin high and then being placed in charge of the 8bc stall while everyone else went to see nordloef (I'd seen him before, so was being nice) and having to deal with a really intense n00b IRL, who couldnt grasp the concept of making music on a Game Boy at all and putting my customer service skillz to the test.
