for those of you who haven't seen hally or omodaka before: you're missing the fuck out!
Thanks, but ask me GEEKY tech questions!!!!!!!
is it possible to make something like this that simulates mp3/wma compression in real time? (disregarding any codec licensing issues)
it's kinda weird, but for a while now i've desperately want an effect that lets me sweep between 16 and 320kbps, or sidechain or whatever. like a really nasty filter/crusher with all the throaty artifacts and stuff.
imo pretty much any sort of music can benefit from a thoughtful stereo image, even if that just means sticking a tiny amount of stereo reverb over the track.
nailed it is really good btw

It's also for people who have super expensive headphones that have a very neutral sound. Can't really EQ that efficiently if your headphones are too weak or too bassy. :[
man i started mixing/producing in 2002, and very rarely have i owned or even had access to truly neutral speakers/headphones, only at college where we were using $100k fairlight consoles in acoustically treated studios where you could actually notice the difference between speakers, sort of. mainly i've been using $30 sennheiser cans and logitech gaming speakers haha. it's all about knowing how your speakers sound and mixing with that in mind, then as long they're giving you 20-20K you can EQ as effectively as anyone imo.
having said that, i got a pair of super expensive headphones a couple years ago and they're still the best 800 bucks i ever spent. definitely not neutral but still amazing for everything.
oh ho, you need some head and shoulders for those hairs you're splitting!
i'm not confused about anything

mixing. dont be afraid of the word.
Probably what you mean by mixing is equalization and panning, not even mixing. It makes me a sad panda.
since when was eq and panning not part of the mixing process?
I've searched everywhere on the internet trying to find the dimensions of a Siel orchestra so i can get a case for it.
well, my best guess is something like 80cm x 30cm x 12cm, based on a bunch of pictures of it and measuring a yamaha ps-20 which has the number of/sized keys. apparently it weighs 22.5 pounds: http://sounddoctorin.com/synthtec/arp/quartet.htm
gate, compress, EQ, reverb, compress again
i feel like my vocals are produced as fuck though (spoilers!)
I don't tend to cringe so hard that I bite my own forehead when I get a boner
i do :<
Whoa! Time flies like an arrow! I didn't even notice the age of the thread.
and here i was thinking "man it's a shame nitro never finished making that flasher" :v
phonics love unity respect
hmu if u agre
I do this sometimes too, if you'd like your bass sound to be different than your kick you can just use an F01 command and copy the WAV instrument 's WAV of your choice into the second frame of your kick-drum's wave table. Only works for static wav basses, (unless you want to go super technical) but should work in most cases.
this too! except i end up being all F20 or FE0 or something silly instead of just copying the wav frames over :v
sorta OT, but the first frame of my kick synth is always a bunch of random noise, i F01 on the first line of the table and it gives a nice little click to the kickdrum haha
lock it baby, lock it hard!
