-try and avoid it altogether, if at all possible.
-use only one pattern (50-50 chequer), as you can easily waste time and make the image worse unless you knwo what you're doing.
Ways to approach it are endless, but there is no quick and easy workaround (except dithered color-reduction).
Here are some styles:
BLOTCHES
LINES
ORDER
CHAOS
For some reason, it will not embed the last two images. See them here:

Maybe it's just me (I'm certainly no expert on dithering, let alone pixel art in general) but the "chaos", at least algorithmically, looks pretty orderly to me. It looks a checkerboard dither rather than a noise dither. It does look somewhat chaotic but I think that's higher level chaos, like the artist was adding some grime in the color between (i.e. implied by the dithering of) the solid colors, and the outline of that grime is chaotic but the inner texture is checkerboard.
If that makes sense.
If you can't find one, you might just try an emulator. </heresy>
oh I was running it from DOS 7.1. everything else was working fine (edit: besides MIDI & line in recording)
yeah, maybe that's the problem.

I couldn't get this working in FT2 or IT with an SBLive. Record wasn't working either.
Seems like Oliver really doesn't like the 2nd gameboy idea. He avoids the topic altogether Too bad because I have a feeling that if that were working it would be a lot more reliable.

Google "line trap". If you dare.

I know this isn't the best place to ask but Google's not giving up the goods on this one - which record(s) did Gerald use it on? Did he use it on Black Secret Technology? Cos he's the man.

I bought a couple dozen rechargeable batteries over the last couple of years but I seem to have lost most of them in my most recent move. I only have barely enough rechargeables for a spare set when the ones in the DMG die. It irritates me a little more every time that happens. I should probably scrounge the boxes a little harder or buy some more. But I still want a PSU option for when I don't feel like dealing with unreliable batteries.

Wow that's a lot of juice for a little brick.
Ah, I was aware of that battery pack but I didn't realize you could also plug it into the wall while using the DMG. Makes sense. Cool, I will look for one of those. Thanks!
Has anyone had luck using a DC power supply with their DMG? If so, what amperage? Is there any extra hum or noise or any other undesirable effects?
I rifled through all my spare PSUs this weekend and came up empty for the DMG, though I did find one for my miniKP! So I'm wondering what the chipmusic.org consensus is before I shell out for a new one.
Sorry for the bump, but I was struggling with ye olde Transferer II again last night and I just wanted to post this for posterity. I uploaded a ZIP to Google Docs w/ both the GBSW version (the one that WORKED), and the Give IO driver. After banging my head against the wall with all the other options, these worked great in XP SP3.

This post confuses me, but I effin' love Eddie Svärd's stuff. Actually if it weren't for his SIDs ("Blizzy", "Cancer" "Severed") I probably would have been sick of chip stuff a long time ago.
Sounds like it's Behringer time.

Also wondering. I get the urge to do this myself pretty frequently.
