What can you expect? It's a clothing launch. This is UK hairtune at its best.
No offense, JHT. Not your fault.

None taken Akira, you make a valid point smile

I hope that this will attract at least 1 or 2 people at the show to other chipmusicians, at my first show I met a guy who liked goto80 so who knows?

It'll be an interesting night for sure anyway!

Like I said earlier, it's a good opportunity for people at the show to hear some chipmusic for what is likely to be the first time ever, if I didn't think this was the case then I wouldn't be playing the show wink

Everyone is entitled to an opinion so thanks smile

a gig is a gig man, it's cool to have some sort of progress smile but i don't really think superpowerless are chip, and they have a bad attitude i think, but apart from that it's cool just to have gigs in the uk! tongue

yeah, things are progressing forward for chipmusic locally, maybe this will help a bit, who knows?

i touched on the chip/not chip element in my original post, as a whole though the UK chipmusic crew is getting a lot more active on the gigging circuit, i guess that can only be good smile

Wednesday, 17th of February 2010
8pm doors, £3 entry, all ages.

Facebook Event Page

Soon to be second show in Yorkshire which features more than 1 chipmusician (although I use that statement very loosely for this show)

Regardless of the above statement it should be a good night, gives me a good chance to preview new material and hopefully get a bit of publicity locally, there's a few other dubstep'ers playing if that's your thing as well.

It's also 2 days after my 18th birthday so come down and have a few drinks beforehand and/or after. I should be able to put you up for the night too in the unlikely event that you travel a fair way and/or are too intoxicated to catch a bus/train home wink

Oh, and no drama please regarding the lineup. I'm willing to discuss any issues over PM or in this thread after the show though.

Thanks for reading big_smile

so what do you think of this years europa league? Liverpool? Marseille? smile

I follow Liverpool myself and I have to say I can't see them winning it, it's been the worst team in recent years (probably since towards the end of Houllier's reign)...

OM will probably go just as far as Liverpool I imagine (no offense wink), there's a few quality players in your squad (Ben Arfa, Mandanda & Gonzalez) but they lack a bit of depth in the squad....

I'm going to tip Atlético Madrid but it's one of those cups where a lot of teams can spring surprises so who knows?

You heard it here first guys!

Studying at college I get £30 a week for being a poor boy from a poor family. Seriously though, I hardly ever go out, I don't drink much or smoke at all. Only £60 a month actually goes on education...

Saying that I've spent under £100 on gear in the last year anyway, the beauty is that it isn't about who has a Gibson or a Moog in the chipmusic world. If people already have a computer then you're set to go from there, nothing else needed. Part of the attraction I guess wink

I have to agree with you about France, they were very lucky against Ireland and looked really disjointed tactically, especially at the back. Easily the worst French side I've seen in a long long time.

Dubmood, what do you think of Gabriel Obertan and Moussa Sissoko though? Obertan looked like a player with a lot of promise in Ligue 1 and Sissoko has been linked with a lot of Premiership clubs recently.

As for Barthez, he always seemed a bit too risky in big game situations at Manchester United for me to say he was a great goalkeeper, good shotstopper but some of his decisions in the air and one-on-one left something to be desired...

The problem with Ligue1 is that spite its popularity, it has a rather low quality to be honest. Many of the big stars of ligue1 only end up as avarage players in the premier league, like Nasri. But there are always exeptions like Drogba, and Lyon that won the ligue 1 7 years in a row never managed to qualify for a 1/4 final in the champions league. Sissoko plays for lyon and I dont think he got what it takes to play in any of the big 4, and lyon is underachiving this year. And Ligue1 football is often very boring, afaik its one of the leagues that scores the least goal per matchday. Its all about playing 11 defenders and waiting for a counterattack and win 1-0.  Didier Dechamps tried to create some interesting football this year in Marseille and keeps getting shot down by smaller teams, and he is the only coach who has managed to do anything interesting with a french team on the international scene since the early 90s. (monaco in CL finals).

Yeah, that's true, as club football has expanded in terms of the amount of money being put into clubs (ie. mega rich owners or television rights) Ligue 1 has lost out massively. Teams like St. Etienne and OM used to be massive teams in Europe, now Ligue 1 is full of past it players not good enough for England, Spain and Italy and the best players move on to bigger clubs elsewhere in Europe.

Nasri has proved that he isn't good enough for Arsenal, Drogba has been a great player for Chelsea, as well as Essien and Malouda (who has improved a lot in the past season to give him credit).

Unfortunately it's not always the most entertaining teams that win trophies in football, Italy are always a boring side to watch but won the last world cup. Arsenal are the most entertaining side to watch in the UK (imo) and haven't won a trophy for years! Mourinho won lots of trophies with Chelsea playing 4-5-1 though...

Some of these recordings helped me through my exams a lot recently, thanks!

Easy Prey is still sounding awesome, as is Rough Weather, loved the new tracks Maneuverer and WTWOP too big_smile

My first gig was on the 19th of September 2008, I'd just gathered up enough material to play around 20 minutes of originals and 10 minutes of covers, looking back it was a bad idea to rush playing my first show like that and I think that's what can give many people who have never listened to chipmusic before a bad impression before they've even delved into the "genre"... I dare say countless other artists have rushed playing their first show out of over-enthusiasm too.

Overall though, it was a pretty good performance. I opened the night and was drastically different to all the other bands playing that night. A lot of the 15 year old girls that turned up to listen to pop-punk didn't really get it (and that was the core demographic too) but the small minority of the hardcore kids (guys that listen to Bad Brains, Minor Threat and Descendants etc) really got into it and started running up the walls and shit... One guy bust his face open and went to hospital but I was so nervous I didn't even realise until after the show, ha. Everything else ran smoothly though. I even got paid somehow.

Yeah! Forgot about those two, they were both on the "5 years of Hyperdub" CD that I've got. Cow'p is a good shout too along with a guy called "wildman steve" if you want more bleepy-dub (lol)

There's a few artists out there that appeal to me but nothing majorly new or different, just the same usual suspects that everybody else has mentioned... as it's popularity has exploded it's hard to trawl through all the shit to find any good stuff, a bit like what people said about 8bc in the end.

Anyway, I personally like Skream, Benga, Rusko, Caspa, Coki and Burial but that's about as far as it goes for me and dubstep. It was entertaining to listen to at first but once every middle class whiteboy dj that used to play "electro" started dropping the same stuff that you and others had been listening to a year before it lost it's appeal somewhat.

I still enjoy listening to the odd Mishka mix now and again though, the one by The Others (volume three I think?) is my favourite smile

I said that the preview sounded nice, but that album artwork does look like a photoshop disaster. If you can't take any feedback other than good then I suggest you reconsider your position as an artist in a community like this.

Agreed, well said.

I'd love to know how well this sells actually, maybe sometimes before people selling chipmusic on iTunes haven't found it as profitable as they thought it would be. Good luck with the sales though, i'm not a big fan of your work but I can understand to a degree why one would sell their work smile

my last.fm says:

alex mauer – System of a Master
little-scale – Nothing Has Been Left Unspoken
Ubik – Springtunes
Dubmood – Best of 04-07
Random – Bad Joke
x|k – Baud of Passion
USK – Music Is My Girlfriend
nordloef – My Black Heart
little-scale – Error Repeat

for artists that released a lot of modules though i'd recommend listening to some:

Syphus, Dubmood, Maktone, Zabutom, Ghidorah, Sinny, Zalza, LHS, Algar and Mr Death
