I second (third? fourth? how many of you suggested it?) getting Chipsounds. Best plugin ever.

I also checked out your Face to Face remix. dude use more than 3 instruments. you have no hardware limitations like everyone who uses a real gameboy/nes/whateverz. Covers are a great way to practice different techniques when you're new to using the computer to make music, especially if you are actually doing it by ear, but experiment more and fill out the sound more.

Also, I hope you are not really using Garageband Chip as your alias.

I would say as a concept it is really popular already, it's just that the average person doesn't know there is a whole scene about it. Lots of people grew up with the older video games, so when they hear something similar in songs by already popular artists or whatever they feel the same nostalgia lots of people here probably feel when they make this kind of music. No true chip stuff would get popular I think, because it's not like everyone would be like "yo these lo-fi sounds are dope, play this shit on mtv!" At most it would get big with hipsters (some would argue it kind of already is), and we would all go about our lives in the small scene while random big artists incorporate square waves and mario coin sfx every few months or so.

And they all lived happily ever after, the end.

edit: to directly answer the topic question though:

lol completely on accident I just found out Riff Raff also sampled Debmaster (has a dope release on Cock Rock Disco, uses chip type sounds pretty frequently) with no permissions or credits. Dude is not goin down a good road.

logs in and changes the whole album to david guetta songs

the sad part is that that is way more clever than what will actually happen when some bitter douche on the forum inevitably messes around with the comp. I give it a week before every artist ends with "... is gay" or something like that.

teen arts does the sickest cover of the Sealab 2021 theme. great album though and not just cuz I have a song on it. ps. if you download I did a chip/dub remix of Kidnap the Sandy Claws as a bonus track.

I like the album, it is very good. One thing missing...      Fight For Your Right (to Party).......    should be there

Superpowerless was gonna do it. I know how the community feels about him, but he makes some good covers and is big on the interwebz so I tried getting him but he dropped..
