blah blah presets are bad! blah blah fakebit is bad too!

but anyway, idk if it's possible to share presets in Plogue Chipsounds (I don't see why it wouldn't be), but I've been working out a bunch of custom sounds lately and thought it would be cool if there was a thread for sharing presets. I'll post some of mine when I get a chance/if there is any feedback or interest in such a thread. I just think it could be fun playing with sounds people have made, and it'd also be cool to see who all uses the plugin.

I don't think it's Blue, but I was thinking the same time period. It's driving me crazy.

Really digging this release.

ps: the intro of Ultimatum sounds similar to another song, but I don't know what and it's frustrating me. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Honestly FLAC on bandcamp doesn't really stand for anything. It's really only worth it if you know the musician uploaded the highest quality track with good recording/mastering/etc. I could record a song on my laptop's built in mic, export 96kbps mp3, transcode to wav, and upload on bandcamp and if someone downloaded flac it wouldn't be anything other than a label really.

edit: and even if the FLAC is super legit awesome quality, unless you only listen to music on a nice stereo or nice headphones, there is no point. you probably already know all this, but just throwing it out there just in case.

I second drugs, and I haven't even done any in like 2 years. My method has become, "if I was stoned, what would sound super awesome right now?"

I wouldn't recommend psychedelics when trying to write though. It's kind of hard to focus and when I have tried before (I was on acid) it was really irritating listening to the same thing over and over making a song, so I opted to just listen to Richard D James Album on a loop for 6 hours and analyze it really intensely, which I guess improved my way of making music.

Just got this dude Marcus D's new album called Retro'd, it's pretty dope. He is a hip hop producer, but this album is a bunch remixes of SNES games (and a couple random non SNES things). It's on the more chill side of hip hop instrumentals, so check it out if that's your thing.

I won't get into the whole "is piracy bad" debate, but I really doubt they get all that many downloads. Just a couple kids posting music they like on a blogspot. It's a really popular thing in the metal and hardcore internet scene (there's like 5,000 of them), and I'm pretty sure that's what he started as (still does lots of nintendocore). As musicians it's expected that people will probably put your shit out there for free, but if it makes you uncomfortable (and since he uses mediafire) you could report the links and have them down that day (mediafire don't fuck around anymore, and he would get suspended from mediafire I believe). I would say leave the kids blog alone though. you could even go on facebook and message them (they have a page), and they would probably oblige. I know who one of the admins is, and he is someone active here so I won't be the one to name names, but he would probably respect you dudes' wishes if you address it appropriately.

edit: for the record, they posted some of my shit (it was already free), and I'm a nobody, and even though bandcamp tells me it was like 4 hits from there, that's 4 more than I would have gotten on my own, so that's cool.

At first when I read zombie style, gangsta style, etc. I thought you meant no remixing gangnam style in those ways.

ps. wtf is zombie style?

all the other videos in the same campaign is said to have music by bit shifter, but It doesn't sound like bit shifter at all.

I didn't watch them all but Romney vs. Cain has the Uncertainty Principle by Bit Shifter.

you would think bigger organizations would check their credits better and take precautions against this sort of thing.

this thing sucks but it's not like it will become some mainstream tool. youtube already has basically every song in "8-Bit" so there will just be more of that shit. let them be, and let misguided nostalgia whores eat it up and think it's the coolest thing ever while we sit in our dark corners and brood. it's what we were meant to do.
