Yeah, they're probably pretty rare, except on cheap stores like DX. Point is, if it says it's a charge only cable, avoid it.

RAR Frog is a program that I use to extract .rar files. It's free and very easy to use. You don't double click to go into things, but it will open with RAR Frog and extract into a normal folder. Then you can go into. I'm not quite sure what you will need to use it for, and this might not be what you want, but it works for extracting .nds roms and other things. Hope this helps smile

That looks like a horrible program, and it also won't help OP.

Apparently.

Answer, not really. USB is very different from a USB port, and it's not really suitable for simple interfaces like that, compared to the LPT port. You might get similar results from using a bit crusher, though. Try experimenting with Decimort, which is one of the probably few high quality bit crushers which are not focused on just destroying the sound completely. Try something like 8 bits, frequency around the 11k-22k range, filter pre, LP, filter frequency to your liking, somewhere around half the sample frequency.

Another option might be to get an Arduino (if you don't have one) and try building a similar circuit to the covox and attach it to one of the digital ports. Obviously, then you would have to synthesis code on your own. That's not what you were asking for, but might be  an interesting adventure.

You forgot the -jar part.

java.exe is the command line version of Java. You probably want javaw.exe which will not open this window. However, this intself will not affect your ability to use the program. You'll just get the command line window as well as the program window. Annoying but not fatal.
Your actual problm is that whichever way you do it, you need to pass the -jar command line switch for it to recognize that you're running a .jar archive.

The "correct" way to solve the problem would be to reinstall Java. But screw that. Let's fix this manually.

Let's say you've now you selected java.exe as the default application for opening .jar files. Now open the registry editor. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ Applications\ java,exe\ shell\ open\ command. Double click (default). Now change "(path)\java.exe" "%1" to "(path)\javaw.exe" -jar "%1"
(path) is obviously the path, which you shouldn't touch. Click ok. Now the file should open as intended. Perhaps not the suggested retail maethod, but should work. (Hopefully Vista is not too different from Windows 7 so it will still work.)

I'm noticing at least two problems with that sentence.

This kind of existential discussion is one the most badly flogged dead horses of the chip music community. There's just nothing worth saying that hasn't been said already.

Faerlight, I don't know if you're a troll, but I'm leaning in that direction. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like Washington state is a breeding ground for trolls...

My point is, you can always make a LED less bright by putting in a bigger resistor value. I just grabbed a value out of my ass. Experiment and find a value that works well for your LED. 10k is probably too big for the purpose.
