OpenTZT is great... I currently have it configured on my laptop to work off of various buttons on my Logitech joystick...

10 years of lessons in classical piano.

T-Town (Tacoma) is the sh!t... As has been said, Dorkies barcade is the venue for a lot of the chip shows. Being a senior in high school right now, I haven't had much time in the last 3 or 4 months to go to a lot of the shows but the ones I have gone to were just awesome. Oh, I also noticed that y'all left out Stenobot on the list of chip artists. If anyone knows of any shows or open mics coming up, I would love to know so I could get some stuff together and gain some experience. If you do move to Washington, or the Northwest, the most abundant thing I find is easygoing-ness (-.- terrible grammer). By this I mean that most folks, with the exception of the occasional few, are accepting of different people and are good about reserving their judgements. We would love to have you move out here!

I have the Xenyx802... it works great, as has been said, but you are going to one to pick up at least a few 1/8 (or 1/4 depending on your gameboy's output) inch stereo to 1/4 mono left and right as you will not be able to have it sound proper and correct otherwise.

I would just try to keep everything as an .lsdjsng and back them up too. You should probably only really think about putting them back into a .sav file when you really need 'em (for shows and the like)...

@Zef   I don't want to seem like I am being a fanboy or nuthin', but I still have you Livewire album on a spare cart for when I don't have my iPod... one of my favorite albums man...

Yeah... I never really got good enough with LSVj to ever hope of being successful with it... It takes a lot of figuring out on your own, which I don't have the time for right now. I don't know if you are interested in becoming a VJ (I am not), but I have used OpenTZT for a few shows and it has worked pretty well... was even able to use my Logitech joystick to trigger different effects...

You could always try using kits for some dubby wobbles... I have used the pacman sound in (insert kit name here) and in the table I think I just set the pitch much lower. If you wanted, you could make your own kits via .wav files for the desired sound. I do not think, though, that kits have as much power as the the normal waveform, so just keep experimenting... I mean, like 57.63% of the fun of LSDj is looking for interesting instrument combinations.

Almost forgot... if you make some saw wave wubs, then try to enhance their grandiosity with some subtle 12.5% pulse waves in the background...

Yeah, I picked up a custom Black  Play it Loud! DMG with RGB switches, prosound and NES buttons from ThursdayCustoms and have never looked back. The EMS cart I bought from nonfinite also came loaded with LSDj v4.6.1. I have a load of other stuff including mixers and keyboards as well as a guitar, but they were from before I really got into the chipscene... The only thing I am looking to get now is an arduinoboy so I can midi sync my DMG with my compy and casio for extra cool grooves... But all you really need to get into it, as has been said plenty, is a gameboy, EMS cart, and LSDj.

Woah... just thought of something... what if you made a music video on the gameboy to accompany one or more of the songs... Sounds like a lot of sleepless nights doing a lot of programming... I can't wait to see the finished result. Keep at it man!

So bitchin' man... Congrats! I will have to go out and buy RB now...

my gameboy is called "that one thing that makes them bleeps and bloops and stuff"
I have a bunch of other stuff to like my Korg Monotron I call "Korg Monotron"
and then there is the "obvious cool thing is obviously cool"
and then everything is just called stuff

If you know a lot about vocal anatomy, then you might like Praat...

This typically means that the data has somehow been corrupted to the point where it is inoperable. I would listen to Kitsch, but for the future, keep a backup lsdj.rom on your hard drive so you can reflash. I try to backup songs every week too, just so I can avoid losing them. You might still be able to recover the .sav data, but I don't know as I have never tried to.

With regard to your cart not being recognized by your system, depending on the operating system (Win XP, Vista, or 7) there are different procedures when trying to install the driver. Because there is some problem with Win 7 not wanting to recognize the digital driver signature, you will have to put it into test mode, which will allow you to manually install and assign the proper drivers. There should have been instructions with the disc your flash cart came with... Do you still have them?
