I'm excited about what 2xLSDJ will bring to the table as people get more comfortable with it. I think theres some really cool opportunities to do things spatially with the sound as well as tonally and harmonically. I think the people who're on the top end of the skill scale with LSDJ already  are the ones who are gonna push the envelope with it in the next few years.

Honestly though , if every guitarist used a les paul through a JCM800, things would get pretty samey quite quickly. Difference is nice.

The color is nice. CPU handles table spam much better, but unmodded it has a weird ringing sound for some reason and the wav channel is slightly less chunky.
The DMG is generally considered to have the nicer overall sound of the systems and the best WAV channel, it's somewhat easier to mod due to a less heavily populated board and having more room in the case. The prosound mod is really intended to help stop the sound degrading when it's being sent through massive tracks of cables at clubs and shit. Nice but not necessary for learning.

Pockets aren't used too often because the EMS carts eat batteries in them so fast it's stupid, and using them with a power adaptor adds 50/60hz hum like a bitch.

You could also argue that the main reason the DMG is favoured is essentially aesthetic, although the "GAMEBOYS ON EVERYTHING" craze seems to have died a death.

Everytime someone says chip is dead. Someone comes along and does something mental like this.

And it's usually Chibi-Tech.

Dear seb, I love you.

I have a few

I've never paid more than a few pounds for one. Hunt around and you'll find some old lady willing to sell her kids one for cheap now they've grown up and flown the nest.

I'm good friends with John Richards who designed the Mute synth for mute records. All of them are built by hand, and at the fastest pace I've seen john and stu (asmo) work, it would take just over half an hour to build a single unit. The two of them are extremely efficient, well organised and immensely experienced at the production of these kinds of things and it takes them forever, balancing in other necessary commitments, work and the such.

I don't know Seb at all, but I'm willing to bet that there's a variety of factors at play here. I do think there ought be more communication, but I'm still willing to hold off on criticism. We're nowhere near MidiNES territory yet and seb's done a lot for the community.

There's effectively no difference for most applications really except for space constraints and considerations about adaptors and leads. Total preference thing.

I hear if you reverse the jingle that plays on all his videos and chant "Sebastian, Sebastian, send your child unto me, for the sins of the Mega Drive must be baptised in blood and fear" you'll receive a mysterious email.

I don't understand why people think writing chiptunes is really different from writing any kind of music. To get anywhere, along the way you'll abort hundreds of songs and ultimately filter out a handful of ones you hate the least. you repeat this process for several year and eventually your music becomes half way decent. However, the whole time you're doing this the people you admire will always seem better than you and you just have to deal with it and be the best musician you can be.

I mostly write heavy alternative rock, but I've also always loved synths. The texture of chip waveforms is just really nice to me, harsh but simple. Combing the two seemed like a fairly natural thing to do for me.

When you get your head around the filter, your bass sounds will really start to gain some movement and life.

I habitually listen to my own music to the point where I hate it. How long it takes me to hate it generally gives me a decent impression of what other people will think.

If I really like a song when I'm finished with I listen to it until I've managed to suck all the magic out of it. I can usually start to like a song again after a few new song hate induction cycles.
