My new album, 7 Billion Volts, is almost done. Here's one of the tracks.

Another stellar job from a mad genius, as always.

Well I think because chiptune is, by nature, limiting that it's normal as a musician to want to experiment with other sounds and instruments. That's why I've always done hybrid chip. Every once in a while I just want to write something on a guitar, real drums, etc. I assume it's the same with everyone else. The limitations of chiptune are great, because they force you to be inventive within' their confines. But every now and again, you're really just going to want to play some stoner metal.

Loving both the music and the look of the game so far.

Jotie: Haha. Yeah, it's understandable that non-punk enthusiasts don't hear the difference. Glad you like it, regardless. FYI the full length album I'm working on will have a wide variety of styles.

Hi guys. Thanks for praise/constructive criticism.

n00bstar: For this track I layered Kontakt Tone machine vocal effects with FL Studio Vocodex. I use different synths for carrier waves in different songs, but most of the time, I use the atari2600 pitfall saw wave in Plogue Chipsounds as the carrier. Gives it that very strong robotic sound.

Just put a single up. Figured I would release something while working on the new album. It's a garage, protopunk, chiptune hybrid. And it's free. Enjoy.

NYU and U.S.C have a rep for good music production/tech programs.

Ignore the "teach yourself on google" advice. Sound/music production is like learning graphic design. You can pretty much teach yourself anything if you want to badly enough. But you'll learn faster and more efficiently with good teachers, like minded fellow students, and access to high end equipment. Plus a school program keeps you focused and structured and forces you to learn some essential things that you might be too tempted to skip if you're self teaching.

Also if you want a job is sound design/production/engineering, that piece of paper is going to be a tremendous help in getting your foot in the door.

4mat - The Wonderful is similar to that.

I think he uses Amiga mostly.

In regards to doing ambient with GB, it sounds like a lot of the unique sound would happen in the mastering with EQs and Reverb/Delay. Without mastering and track effects, most of the "softness" would have to be done in the wavetable. Try to stay away from notched waveforms. Someone with more GB skill will have to elaborate further.

A flyer Dr. Know used to hand out at their gigs. It applies to the chip scene and pretty much every other scene everywhere.

I could see this being useful in the music section. Maybe not just a blanket ignore, but a "see more of/see less of/ignore this users songs" function. If someone creates music consistently in a style that you're not really interested in, it could be a good way for users to filter things out according to their tastes.

I don't really see this being useful in the forum. If you're sick of a particular users posts, you can just ignore them on your own. You don't really need the internet to do it for you. If you look at the main page, the vast majority of posts here actually seems like a good ratio of useful info/releases rather than opinion posts.

I have tons of songs here that I would have to get rid of, and I'm still all for it if it keeps the site running. Plus I like that it encourages artists to upload all killer no filler.
