I had a discussion with a jungle-expert who said that this wasn't breakcore. I thought he was nitpicking about genres.

Yup, title says all.

Underground Belgian radio show is looking for skweee netlabels.

My knowledge of skweee is zero, but I know you guys will have some names ready.

Thanks

Student. Social Work (child service 'n shit). Organized a student rally last two weeks against budget cuts in education.
Due to my studies I got allowed to leave classes, my work for the rally will be graded for "voluntary non-school social work" and I have to write 3 small reflections about what I've done, why the rally was organized, and my opinions about the rally.

Awesome. Really heavy study, though. Four tasks each week, sigh.

Isn't the sax a little bit too loud? It doesn't seem to blend in really.
Great songs though, really impressed

Lol, easymode

Some are just one channel. Just put C3 in NOI, change the sweep a little (E4, I dunno) and put some Random S-commands in a table or in the phrase screen. Just goof around with it, you'll find some.

I had that happen by using 4 different batteries. One was a little smaller and kept losing contact.

It can be really simple things sometimes.

Define classical.
Because Tetris might be considered as well.
Koribjenki (or what is it called?) is an old folkloric song, but arranged to opera, adopted by the rad army choir and later adopted by Tetris. Same goes for kalinka, used in some versions of tetris.

Some guy has a requiem for a dream remix I found really great (think he was Italian).

Also: tons of respect for Divag for a baroque song on http://www.dataglitch.org/#release0002. "Medievol" Amazing track. But I don't know if it's a remix or not. It's insanely good either way.

Ps: I meant to write "Red Army Choir", but I thought my mistype Rad army choir was quite comical.

2 gameboys + link cable to make smoother transitions / beatmatching is a chill idea, beatmatching can be a bitch whilst nervous.

I'd advice against 3. I do that because I kind of have to (2 DMG'S regular and 1 color for crazy 240 bpm tracks) and that's annoyingly confusing.

An intro is nice. With a laptop you can use straight soundtracks or movie trailers or whatever. Lot's of chip artists announce themselves and if the venue doesn't know chiptune explain what they do with those game boys a little. What's deathray though?

You'll need 3.5 mm to RCA cables. One per game boy, unless the venue has them, but I advice bringing your own.

Game boys are silent, so in a regular mixer, put them in phono inpunts, because they get a pre-amp.

I's ask the sound guy (if any) for a dance/drum and bass setting. But that depends on YOUR sound. But most places have one setting only so that isn't a bother.

Bring fresh batteries.

Don't spill drinks / keep them away.

A little extra:

Some mixers come with build in effects. If you've got some time before your show, it might be worth the trouble to find a friend who has got a mixtable and try if phasing works on the DMG's music.Things like muting for one split-second (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhwW7vhdTEE at 2:45 Also: bit shifter's face) are fun basic stuff that add to your show. But they require 1) being in tune with your own songs, knowing where and what happens 110% and 2) Being in tune with the effects you can pull of (phasing, panning on the fly, reverb, echo etc) so you can apply effects while playing. But I wouldn't do those things on a first show. And not overdo it like some soundguys.

Yo errybody.
I've come to a point where I have so many minor questions about LSDJ I'm just gonna throw them here and see what happens.

1) To prevent the skipping of noise instruments, I shouldn't use TSP, but S commands. But is there a way to go back to an old song, and change the TSP's to S-commands in such an exact way the instrument sound doesn't change?
FE: I've got a snare (E64, Shape ED) with this table:

TSP
1F
00
0C
1F
00
0C

Can you in some way, like, "calculate" which S-command values I have to exchange them with?

2) At the moment I don't have many carts, so memory space is an issue. Also I experience lot's of glitching up due to several simultaneous V-commands running at 220 bpm. This made me wonder what takes more saving space and which takes more processing power. The logic thing to me would be that placing the P-command on bass-drums in the Phrase screen takes more CPU but less sav. And that giving them a table with a P-command is less hard on the CPU but requires more space. Is this in any way true? Same goes for any Command/able, I guess.

3) Can someone imitate the Hitchcock psycho strings? I've made really slow songs with high pitch chords (MinMaj, sus2, sus4, maj13). The chords never seem to sound as "sharp" as the violins. I have to add that to my taste, lots of chords still sound very happy due to the game boy's characteristic sound, so maybe it's just me. Does anybody know a good way to mimic the chords? Crazy V-commands? High resonance Wav instruments?

4) My newer songs (the hardcore/gabber experiments) aren't bassy enough on the game boy color, but the DMGs just glitch up. The color survives no problem. The DMGs slow down at busy moments and speed up in breakdowns. At those moments you can't navigate or anything. Are there ways to circumvent this problem? Is glitching up more common on DMGs that have wear and tear and should I buy new ones and treat them better? Or would it be the same on any DMG? Do I have to split up all my songs in halve and spread them over two sav files? Should I start using only 3 channels? Are there any other handhelds that sound just as bassy and have better CPU? Like how's the PSP?

I'm reading http://www.herbertweixelbaum.com/comparison.htm ATM, but I'd rather have more info/ personal experiences to go on.

5) I had a question number five. I forgot it. Keeping this one open in case I remember it later.

If anybody can wade through my wall of text, survive, and maybe answer a question / help me by thinking out loud, I would very much appreciate it, thanks!
