and as always, when you pre-drill holes, the pre drills need to be a tad smaller than the finished ones

take this from a guy who used to work in carpentry

this may sound dumb, but: what is meant by 'computationaly cheaper' ??

that shit looks sweet! I have a keyboard I've been wanting to spray and never thought of using the color scheme of any actual synth, you just inspired me!

thanks!!

plus I just realized how good this would look sitting next to the red play it loud!

I agree ^ with him.

I do enjoy the look and the simplicity of the mini KP though, sometimes less is more

I haven't messed with the Quad, but I wish I could.

I don't know if it samples like the KP3 does (which is real handy for chip/electronic music) but having 4 effects at once would kick ass, which is something I lament about the KP3.

The fact that the KP3 samples might be a deciding factor for you also, or maybe not. and I can't recall the maximum sample time of the KP3 off the top of my head either though.

I've been thinking about getting rid of the X3, I don't play it as much as I thought and need/want some other equipment. also have 2 of the external flash memory cards used for storing the program/sequences.
one opened that has been used in the keyboard and one unopened and sealed

talk about your flash drives of yesterday!

even with their bigger size than the originals, the newer ones are still much more portable than any other keyboard synth

But factor in their playability as a synthesizer and it's not worth it. Kaoss Pad as a synth is laughable imo. The best portable synth you could get is the microkorg.

p

yeah well he was asking about the kaossilator family, not keyed synths. I also play keyboards : fantom G8, triton extreme, & korg X3

wish I had a microkorg & nord piano & moog taurus & a yamaha keytar. oh well, one day maybe

So other than the bigger size and the no battery thing, have you had any other complaints or problems? Thanks!

no complaints, other than when one of my roommates asshole friends spilled a mixed cocktail all over it and gummed up all the buttons and sd card slot.

even with their bigger size than the originals, the newer ones are still much more portable than any other keyboard synth

I have the kaossilator, kaossilator pro, and KP3, but not the mini KP, so can't speak for it.

advantage of the KP3 & kaossilator over the older ones, mid in & out ports (which means you could sync the midi clocks to your gameboys), the cool LED screens, and 4 sample banks (or channels), not one like the originals.

disadvantage:bigger, no batteries.

advantage of the original mini & kaossilator, smaller & battery option

both ideas are great.

and even for those people who dont go to shows/know a lot of friends who also do chip music/etc.  the physical hardcopy is still useful because sometimes its easier to just grab a book and flip through it.

would you mind telling me where you got the thumbpot for the pitch?

when you're have this much trouble

USE RUBBING ALCOHOL

when you use rubbing alcohol, you know that the alcohol is dissolving some of the adhesive so you will know that you taking off the right layer
