hello fellow interested-in-making-visuals-with-nes buddy!

First of all I second your questions about flash cartridges because I still don't know about that.
Regarding the other questions,
I believe that if you have a NES with a composite video output you can hook it up to a cheap HDMI or VGA converter  (~10$ on chinese websites).

You can indeed modify (glitch bend) a NES! I made some ugly modifications on my first attempt but they are quite curious and interesting, you can check them out on my website, otherwise check out casper electronics' mod (his website is currently down tho) or bitcrusher's mod. I also made an arduino based glitch step sequencer.

About mixing visuals with something else, my current option is using an old hardware video mixer (panasonic ave5, pretty popular among vjs) which I'll probably also try to bend. Hardware video mixers are pretty rare and expensive though, so you may want to try other options like recording a footage with a DLSR or an old camera (if you have one) of your screen and then prepare clips via software and use only a laptop.
You can consider a "Karl Klomp" dirty video mixer but it only works on analog tvs.

Amazing tracklist and amazing execution!

I don't want to sound mean but I don't really like the music player/browsing here on cm.o... which is exactly the reason why I dig this so much! Great work, I'm going to listen to a lot of rare gems

I especially love the way music and animations work together, amazing work!

damn this went straight 0 to 100 real quick!!
I love all the different sounds, some do really sound like fm alike.

exactly what i wanted to check! I'm glad other people already thought about getting lgpt on pocketchip!

I'm using the original EMS software on Windows 7 x64 (not using it would make me feel bad after everything I've done to get it working), this one (thanks again, rbino! Works like a charm big_smile) on Debian x64 and Drew Read's GB Cart tool on Android.

It is awesome how just a few years ago the solution for backing up and patching EMS carts was full of struggles. Feels awesome to see how this has changed!

My first tracks were just straight GB -> computer's line in
I stepped up to an external soundcard because I needed to record guitars and other stuff as well, and it improved quality overall

Some people like raw sounds, some like soft post-processing, some like hard post-processing.
That's because sometimes you may want to make a track exclusively on the original hardware, while sometimes you may want to blend different elements. There are no limits in music, just do what you like.

About the specific questions:
I have little knowledge of non-EMS carts, but nitro2k01 realized a flasher called Altane, which probably you can buy somewhere.
About the gba -> pc connection, of course it's possible but you have to connect it to a line level input (not to the microphone one). If you're using an external sound card be sure you can also set it to line levels.

Go to the Pico Pico Café!
Ok, that's not gear related but it's a really cool place anyway.

This is a really cool idea for those who, like me, need to step up their workflow from free, random instruments/pattern/chain placing to something more efficient and organized.
On the other hand, makes no sense to use this when you're experimenting new sounds or patterns and don't know what you'll end up with.

Hey, I'm sorry for asking this reeeeal noob question and I don't want to open a thread so I'm writing this here:

I've got my hands on a working Toshiba Tecra 8100.
Even though it's kind of different from the previous model, the Tecra 8000 (at least as I've read online) it rocks some Yamaha DS-XG drivers which seem to be wavetable emulation.

I've also read that "properly configured" DS-XG drivers are working well with adlib tracker and such.
I've tried running adlib tracker on the laptop, it runs well, works and all but I get no audio, so I figured out I didn't configure the stuff I had to.
How do I do the thing? sad does anybody know?
