what
I checked out her youtube channel. She sings and stuff.
Seems normal, but is, judging by her post her, some kind of schoolgirl stalker. She doesn't seem to have any ties to chiptune except she knows Duplico apparently.
Edit: Or she could be his sister. dunno
Auxcide wrote:Whoo points. Who the fuck listens to music on here?
This isn't deviantart.
I do. It's a strange feeling, but I like it. I usually go to a person's profile to preview their music when they post in the Release section before checking out their release.
My brother sighed in exasperation. My mom asked if he was "real" and "famous". I said "Most chip-musicians aren't 'famous' except anamanaguchi, but he's famous in the chip community".
They said "Oh"
But they haven't heard the banjo stuff yet! I think they'd like that better than superdriven muddy guitar toneage.
Anyway, I think this is cool. I like how the vocals are really low in the mix, but the banjo is a tad loud. I loved how everything really went together, though.
GOod stuff.
danimal cannon wrote:This is obviously a troll thread, but try to reimagine the title: "Is it worth putting actual effort into your craft?"
Yeah.
Of course, effort is subjective. One could spend 12 hours "working" on a song and not really doing anything except listening to it over and over.
The songs I'm most satisfied with are usually the ones that I get done in 1 or 2 sittings.
Edit: Like... the ones that take longer often feel less inspired, more contrived, like I forced something out of it without really having anything meaningful to say. But then, as I work on it, I figure out what I'm trying to say, so it all works out anyway.
But still, it's the short ones that I like best usually.
It's running on my XP ^_^
But what is this I don't even
It looks awesome, though.
I've done a couple OSTs for free games. Nothing you guys would have heard about, though. (Vista Quest and Vista Quest 2 at suitgames.com) It was midi, music, though. At one point, my Game Maker projects were partially so I could show off my vgmusic composing skills, lol. I don't really know how good it really came out, since not many people have played it. the suitgames.com forum members seem to like it, though...
But... it looks like you've got it covered. And I'm still relatively new to the whole chiptune thing and low on spare time, so I can't guarantee anything good anyway.
When/if I start making real stuff with a gameboy instead of emulator, I'll probably start mastering it in Audacity or LMMS (I like LMMS because, like FL Studio, you can do it live rather than having to press "Preview" all the time.)
As for now, though, I try to get it sounding as good and balanced as possible within LSDJ.
Overwhelming is not bad. Not at all.
Also... and... I guess this is as good a time as any to ask.. I've been wondering... sometimes I'll download an mp3 from bandcamp and it won't be fully tagged (no genre, no album, no year) Is that because they were uploaded in an uncompressed format that doesn't support tags, and then auto-tagged by band camp based on your account settings?
It always strikes me as odd that a person would make something so cool, but not take the time to label it and stuff.
Kedromelon wrote:SketchMan3 wrote:Cool... Dylan Sprouse artwork.
is that sarcasm?
but yes, he is an excellent pixel artist
No. The feeling behind it was "Cool! Dylan Sprouse artwork!" The elypsis was supposed to denote stunned awe.
Cuz I'd been wondering what'd happened to him, but after hitting "Submit" I had a feeling of deja vu and realized I'd seen this artwork before and had the same reaction.
Anyway... yeah. Great music too. It's a bit overwhelming.
Edit: Hmmmm..... hm hm
Cool... Dylan Sprouse artwork.
Awwww, dude. Skate Or Die! "Bad n Rad" for the Gameboy had some great tunes, too. Man... and what about "Rygar"? That's some good stuff too... And "Time Lord"
Edit: And Section Z and Bonk's Adventure
It's pretty simple to post images. *sent pm*
What's not simple, however... is figuring out where the album link is. I see the cover art thumbnails. I click the thumbnail, and it just shows me the full size image. But... no... download... link...
Edit: FOUND IT! My Google Chrome "Downloads" toolbar was blocking the bottom of the screen, and I didn't think to scroll down. Thanks. That's what I get for downloading balloonbear's "Plush Your Mind" from his cm.o profile because I liked it so much. =\
Edit2:
also @sketchman3 you're slow
I always check the link location in the status bar before actually clicking a link, so it ending with ".jpg" threw me off.
Call me slow, but... where is the download link? Also... posting your album art in the OP is a good way to get attention for your release (if it's good art).
Saskrotch wrote:SketchMan3 wrote:How come people can do rock/EDM/metal/jazz/folk/rap/etc. music inspired by video games, but not so with chiptune? That hardly seems progressive...
wait what part of doing a video game music compilation with video game hardware is progressive
The part where the medium is taken seriously enough for it not to matter.
I mean, hardly anybody does it (except for the original composers who created the celebrated OSTs in the first place). That "Rockman Chiptuned" album was pretty siiiiick. Nobody gets upset when a person does a tribute to blues with a guitar or a movie tribute on film.
But I guess we haven't gotten there yet. Maybe in 20 years or so...
Also, I was half-joking/half-serious.
DJ-PIE wrote:Sounds like an idea I had but that I'm sure it has already emerged somewhere here before, a "MYFIRSTLSDJSONGCORE" compilation x)
LOL, that'd be interesting. I doubt most people still have there's, though ( I still have mine)
