If you are really invested in the whole "I write better when I play it on a keyboard", you could always just record your keyboard playing and then transcribe that to goattracker.

I wish I had some geeky technical questions to ask you, but I'm not nerdy enough myself... sad Ummm...

Thanks, but ask me GEEKY tech questions!!!!!!!

is it possible to make something like this that simulates mp3/wma compression in real time? (disregarding any codec licensing issues)
it's kinda weird, but for a while now i've desperately want an effect that lets me sweep between 16 and 320kbps, or sidechain or whatever. like a really nasty filter/crusher with all the throaty artifacts and stuff.

Oh snap man. Oh snap that'd be awesome.

Also, it's probably a little nit-picky of me, but i have to press the down button rather hard in order for it to register. I dunno its whatever

You could check to see if the contact is dirty. I had to press the down button on one of my usb game controllers really hard. I opened it up and turns out was filthy.

I don't believe FamiTracker has that, I know you can export each channel as a solo .WAV file, but I've never seen a stereo expansion chip.

Hm. I thought I had read that somewhere... but I just looked through the expansion chip info and didn't see anything about it. My bad.

Some people would say use fancier sounding pulse channel sounds (W commands, rapid V commands, etc) but you make really good use of the simpler textures. I like the sound of it. It's really big. Perhaps some panning could help, maybe.

Nailed It is really cool. At first it made me think of Mega Man Battle Network, but then it just went off, haha. I love the drums. Was that done in Famitracker? I like how the drums blend in with the non-sampled elements. Most people seem to use realistic drum samples.

Doesn't Famitracker have an expansion chip that allows for stereo separation? I don't see anything impure about that.

Hey, I was rushing to finish my thang and then my modem cut off and when I reconnected all of a sudden the timer jumped from 1h20m to 2d. My heart jumped... but does this mean it's been extended again?

yay

So what you're saying is that AHX is registered at BotB, but not for this particular event? But it may pop up in a future event?

Yes, pretty much. We could also host a One Hour Battle with that format, if you would like.

I'll have to get more familiar with the format and just what this whole BotB thing is about before I'd ask you to do something like that, but thank you.

Sweet! They make cool quirky musics and mythical morning shows and stuff... It'd be cool if they did a LSDJ remix of one of their songs.

I cringed when I saw that... But, yeah... it'd be a cool mod to see made.

Just please don't make A/B X/O or something silly like that. smile

It'd be really cool if it was an actual PSP rather than a Gameboy >:)

Shouldn't this be in the "upcoming releases" thread?

There are so many ways in which live sound will always sound different from the record. Different characteristics of the PA you're using, the room that the music is being played in...I'm happy that my "Thrash City" album doesn't sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cVoSoO5qJ0

Now, if you're playing live, you're almost certainly going to plug into some sort of mixer or soundboard, which will pretty much always have some sort of EQ on it. A simple bass boost there makes a GBC bass mod unnecessary. If you want your album to sound as similar as the live show, just record the output of your mixer, with that EQ.

+1

And, personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with offering a different experience in live performances than what is present in a "studio" recording.

shoot. I forgot about it again! XD

I think it'd be really nice if they added a AHX/HVL category. Gonna have to request that for next time...

Botb actually does have AHX registered as a format smile If there's one compo that does feature it, I'd be willing to bet that it'll turn up in something like Summer Chip if there's a demand for it.

So what you're saying is that AHX is registered at BotB, but not for this particular event? But it may pop up in a future event?

I say go ahead and play around with EQ sometimes. Experimenting is a good way to learn. You don't have to necessarily save your results, but it's fun to see what you can get out of it.

That being said, I tried it once (just boosting the bass a little) but it didn't really work out the way I wanted, so the only post-editing I do to my stuff now is normalize and fade-out if it's one of those loopy type dealios.
