If the polarizing film is just a detachable sheet, then you can just flip it 90 degrees. If not, then I suggest to do biversion mod.

Have you tried to apply some pressure to the ribbon cable right under the screen while system is on? I had similar problem when I first tried to backlight my MGB.

If you use standard drill bit to do a hole, it might be good idea to do first a small hole with smaller bit. I've heard otherwise plastic would crack...

I made holes with drill bit like this:

I wonder if they used dremel with conic bit in the videos..?
