i think the completely open part was the key to that statement...also the video part is way outdated, video upload was disabled way the fuck back in 2007, i think

Thats another argument for nicer mixers, they have balanced outputs! No more shitty di's!

truth! fuck yeah, XLR outputs
and yeah, if the proFX12 is close to the quality of other mackie's its a good deal, and should last years and years of gigs

i dont know, i think ive only run into mono sound at a venue three times in the last 30 or so gigs i've played...maybe i should stop complaining about chicago's clubs...our PA's may suck, but at least almost all of them can do stereo

metal shaker was the last place that didnt have a 2nd DI box, if i run into it much more, ill just get a fucking DI of my own to bring around to gigs in case i need it

yamaha mg series seem pretty solid, yatagarasu uses one and its survived a handful of tours..

I'd go for the Mackie ProFX12.

have you used one yet? i was planning to buy one, then they kept delaying release, so i got a vlz series instead...specifically curious if theyre as rugged as normal mackies

Go to Pepe Rosso on Sullivan St just below Houston. That was my jam when I used to work down the street. Run by Italians making delicious food and being loud. There are only like 3 tables in the place but it's perfect. Get out of Soho and get a belgian beer at Burp Castle on East 7th st between 2nd and 3rd avenue (pricey) or go do the touristy thing and get a drink at McSorely's on the same block (not pricey). I could go on forever but most everything I would suggest would be in Brooklyn... like Barcade; 22 taps and 80s arcade games (should be perfect on a Monday).

barcade, ftw..also, pony bar...williamsburger...

im saddened/worried that you said most venues you deal with run mono, i find it incredibly uncool when a venue isnt at least set up for proper stereo
sad
