Oh shit! I was going to post something for the release... Thanks Lazerbeat! I hope you will enjoy the music!!! If anyone has any comments/feedback either positive or negative, I would be happy to hear them!

Peace

???

Oh! Thanks for the info! Do you have any suggestion of someone who could do this? (And that would also want to do it...). I obviously can't do this myself... For the portamento, is it "like this" or I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks again!

Hi,

I've been using goattracker for the past few days. I was wondering if pitch slide command could be set on the same row as the instrument, it doesn't seem to work for me...

C-4 01 101 (no effects)

C-4 01 000
---  00 101 (this works)

I also noticed that I couldn't make fast portamento like in other tracker. Slower portamento works well, and really fast portamento values sounds like tie notes. However, in the range between, I kinda hear the pitch steps of the portamento, even if it's quite fast (I also tried different portamento speed depending on the interval between note) But I didn't get anywhere near what can be achieve in lsdj.

Furthermore, does anyone tried retriggering the enveloppe in the wavetable? I get volume change when I do this. The volume is correct, but sometime I get really loud note when the enveloppe is retriggered. Ex:

01 41 00
02 00 00 (this row is used as a delay for the enveloppe to reach it's max
03 40 00                    (amplitude before entering sustain/release)
04 04 00
05 FF 01

Do you guys think I can contact Lasse Oorni to ask him if he could implement a pitch sweep command in the wavetable?

Thanks, I hope someone can answer my questions.

Peace,

???

Hi,

I want to learn Adlib Tracker 2! But the manual is a bit rough... I didn't find any tutorial (except the one cited above). Is there a tutorial somewhere? (something like "how to make a kick" "how to make 4OP instrument" or "how to remember all the keyboard shortcut")

Thank you!

Mmmm... I'm sorry but unfortunately, I got too much work to do... It just happened yesterday afternoon. So I'm up for a 48 hours challenge of boring work... Sorry. I'll rewrite a message when I have more time for this.

Anyway I can't start until the evening so i'll wait fo your reply!

Ok i'll do it!!! I've just seen this post (cause you send me a mail) Hahaha Does the 48 hours starts now? Or are they already over?

I would like to be challenged too!

Battle Lava Searching for ghost
(The cover art is really nice)

****Decompression

The kick is really snappy, I like it.

The arp sound that comes in between 0:17 and 0:18 could have a better tuning (maybe by using exactly the same note as the “leading arp” in the right ear.

Keys are fucked at 1:21, also at 1:28, 1:46  etc… (there is one chord that doesn’t fit with the other) Maybe you did this on purpose and it’s ok but you could have found a better chord than this one (musically speaking)

The sound before the breakdown is nice, and I like the mood that comes in…

I like the noise work in the second part

I like the structure of the song but maybe the climax of the song happen to soon then goes on more relax. (I personnaly like it… but it’s less common).

****Metal Arm

Perfect 10/10 (I like everything about this song, it’s so good man)

****Shuttle

I like the distorded lead and the bassy pluck sound in the right ear but I would like to hear more melodies from both instruments. The “delay” on the main arp is great.

I also like the “broken” beat. I would have liked to hear the main arp stopping somewhere to hear just the distorted lead and pluck with the beat.

Overall, I really enjoy the sounds, but it seems like the song is never really starting. It’s cool though.

****Bodies floating in gravity zero

The bassline is beautiful. I will say it again… the bass line is fucking awesome. I like the opera-ish sound too.

I’ve got nothing to say about this one, another great song.

****In the frenzy…

This is experimental music. The beginning up until 1:30 is awesome. The noise beat in the left ear + the kick and the noise in both ear is really punchy (and very creative). After that it’s so bad (bad in a good way)” I like when it’s dark. It feels a bit empty cause the noise beat never comes back (maybe using some noise to highlight some part of the melody would be cool, I don’t know, it’s just an idea). I like the clumsy melody that starts at 3:23.
It feels a bit long but it change enough so it’s ok, but more variation in the bass pattern would have been cool. I would have stop the song at 4:10, after that, it become less interesting and a bit repetitive (in my opinion).

Overall, you make a really good use of the pan (it reminds me that I should stop being lazy with this command…) and every song has a nice L/R balance with the instruments. I also enjoyed the noise work, specially with high frequency sounds (the “ting” sounds… you know instead of “tss”). Good use of tempo change. You should try making beats in 3:4 for fun.

That’s it man. Thanks for the good music!

I wrote a review of this EP because I wanted to share my thoughts and ideas with Battle Lava. I also think that writing some review is important because it is ultimately the only feedback we can get on our music. I also think that sharing opinions, ideas, and suggesting alternative technique/sound/structure can be interesting and fun. I also think that it's a good way to give something in return for the good music we hear and it's also a important part of being a music community.

Thank you so much guys... As I am very lucky I managed to get an STe instead on an STf or STfm... I'm pretty sure this tread will help many other chippers with their atari!

Peace!

I just get an atari st but it doesn't have RCA output like other st. I would like to know where to get the information on how to mod it to get a decent sound output that i can plug in a mixer... I'm pretty good at soldering, I just didn't find a clear schematic with the right things to do inside the box...

Thanks!

Would it be possible to implement a random song generator with different style ranging from funk to orchestral? That would indeed include a mandatory DPCM string generator and of course a DPCM vocal generator!

Any feedback for this event?
