Kinda off topic from electribe specifically, but the Korg Volca series is comming out in July, I believe. Tiny analog machines, costing $150, if you're just looking for a simple little drum machine.

New plastics for the NES? hehe

OOH! That reminds me, I always have wanted a frosted transparent NES shell. From what I've seen (and I'd love to be proven wrong here), there's nobody who makes new nes cases.

Metoolica - "Hack and Demo`" (actually... I think Metoolica is kind of cool... hmm...)

Metoolica sounds like a Metallica tribute band which only uses melodicas. Just for the record, I would go and see that.

Well, it seems a bit silly to be posting here at this point, as I've been registered and (slightly) active for several months ago, but hey, why not introduce myself anyway? I've always loved chiptune, though I only realized it when I saw a bunch of guys from Piko Piko Detroit perform at the Henry ford maker faire. A month later, I picked up a DMG, backlight, and an EMS cart from kitsch, and have been neglecting to do anything interesting with them since (self-inflicted slap). Instead, I've been having a blast just finding out what exists, and better yet, modifying DMGs and NESs. Well, I guess that's about it, sorry for making you read all that, but I reeeeeally don't want to go back to studying for my chem final.

A few months ago, Kitsch was talking about making an adapter pcb which would do exactly what you describe. He hasn't said anything else about it lately, as far as I know, so that could mean he is in the process of making them, decided not to make them, or is about to release them tomorrow.

Here's the part of the post he mentioned it in: http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/1210/page/65/

Kitsch, feel free to chime in on this, I'd be interersted in this as well (-:

Edit: damn you kitsch, you read faster than I type XD

The small joysticks on that remind me of the Pandora system. Screen is too big and the components are likely unable to fit inside the case, not to mention the fact that they cost $500. Still though, worth mentioning ;-)

I've only heard rumors of a pink one, and one picture of a wario one, and I've only just heard of the planet Hollywood one. What other ones are there that are barely ever mentioned?
Is that another pink one with kirby on it on the top of the pile in the back? Also, am I right in thinking that the blue one at the bottom of the stack almost looks glossy?

I've been wondering lately, would it be possible to dye dark plastic lighter without covering text? I'm aware that it is possible to dye the light grey plastics found on a gameboy using rit dye or x-metals. Could this or a similar principle be used to make a sega genesis (or any other dark plastic, for that matter) be a lighter color?

I have often wondered if it would be possible to modify or remove the battery pack from a DMG in order to make more room, while keeping it mobile. You've gone above and beyond on this, well done! Pretty sure that the only way that the rechargeable battery idea could get awesome is if you were able to make it charge through the built in AC adapter port XD

Have you been able to test how long the battery lasts on this guy?

I helped the dude design a schematic ( that probably doesn't work ) but I can't seem to find it.

Wow, if you find that schematic, I gotta see it. All searches I've done on it lead me to the creator's website, which does not seem to exist anymore.

I get tons of coiled wire online, and occasionally get ribbon cable from radioshack in addition to wire wrap.
