Hey guys,

So, I've been a bit weird/flakey/touchy on here, and I know that most of you don't care, but there are some people on here that I have been in contact with that should get the full scope of things.

I've dealt with depression for a long time. I was first diagnosed with it about ten years ago. Certain traumas have happened since then that made it worse. It's something that I've learned to deal with, and I'm fine most of the time, but lately, it hit me full on.

Three weeks ago, I ended up doing something stupid which resulted in me being sent to the ER, then in the ICU for a day, then put in a psych ward for the remainder of that week.

The time surrounding that incident, I haven't been myself (or, the scary thought, I have). I had flipped out on some of you, flaked out on some of you, and had just been really strange. Sorry to everybody who encountered that.

I namely wanted to apologize to those who I had done dealings with, particularly those who had planned to purchase something from me. I completely flaked on you guys. I know that would have pissed me off, so, I apologize greatly.

Also, I want to specifically apologize to Kitsch. Kitsch knows the type of person I usually am and trusted in me enough to send me one of his backlight kits to test. I still have it lying on my desk untouched. I honestly have no idea how I let that just sit there. These past couple of months have just been a blur to me, and I feel terrible.

Between losing my job, dealing with myself, and just everything involved. I'm just going to disappear for a bit. Maybe I'll come back with an album for your downloading pleasure. It will be a while though.

Those who I talk to outside of this website still know how to get ahold of me.

Later.

Dude's going to win a fucking Grammy for this.

Also, I just realized that I can count three songs on here that Prince has made awesome. It's honestly just Santana.

Now's the perfect time to commit crimes.

Carlos Santana's music after the 70's is so insanely ridiculously bizarre. I kind of love it in the same way I love terrible movies.

This. Honestly, if you take everything in, this whole thing is hilarious.

Oh... And there are two bonus tracks.

One of them being "Fortunate Son" sang by Scott Stapp of Creed.

Just the choices of songs and singers is amazing. The dude from Papa Roach, the dude from Creed, the dude from Bush, Nas, the dude from Train, the dude from Matchbox 20, the dude from Stone Temple Pilots. Basically, "Let's do a bunch of classic rock songs. Who should sing them? The people furthest away from classic rock possible."

I really want to know who the brains of organizing the personnel was. I have a feeling it was the same people in charge of the 2001 Super Bowl halftime show or the same people involved in the "Addams Groove"

All they were missing was "Purple Rain" sang by Billy Corgan and Courtney Love

I'm not complaining. I hate Santana.

Ever since stumbling on the track and guest list, I've been anticipating this album for the pure hilarity of it. Just give it a listen to Nas singing "Back In Black" and try not to laugh.

This is seriously one of the worst things I've ever heard. I strongly urge everybody to listen to it for this reason. I think we should do a comp based around this.

1. Whole Lotta Love - (featuring Chris Cornell)

2. Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’ - (featuring Scott Weiland)

3. Sunshine of Your Love - (featuring Rob Thomas)

4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - (featuring India.Arie/Yo-Yo Ma)

5. Dance the Night Away - (featuring Pat Monahan)

6. Back in Black - (featuring Nas)

7. Riders on the Storm - (featuring Chester Bennington/Ray Manzarek)

8. Smoke on the Water - (featuring Jacoby Shaddix)

9. Photograph - (featuring Chris Daughtry)

10. Bang a Gong - (featuring Gavin Rossdale)

11. Little Wing - (featuring Joe Cocker)

12. I Ain’t Superstitious - (featuring Jonny Lang)

Three tips:

1. Book me
2. Guarantee me a large sum of money
3. Don't give this deal to anybody else.

How's the playback and actual quality of the disc? I imagine this uses CD-Rs and not real CDs.

But it takes a lot of ... money

Unless you use essentially nothing but random shit that you find in your room, like I did.

It is worth it. Also, the process is strange. Frustrating, yet soothing in a sense. Now that I have projects that I'm working on, I've found that unsoldering components from random things and soldering them into something else, that process is a very relaxing experience.

It's kind of become like therapy for me.

Now I know why arts and crafts are so popular.

Wow it looks like such a painful process. I think an extra gb camera or two might come in handy.

I thought of this... after shooting was over.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

One half of the band likes it, I'm waiting to talk to the other.

If you're building an oscillator that runs through a speaker, chances are, you're using a 386 to amplify it. Why not? They're cheap, general, and easy to use.

Well, the fact is, they suck. For the most part, they usually work fine, but there's the occasion where you get unwanted oscillation when you want an amplifier. BUT, there are a solutions for when this happens.

We design circuits with ideal behavior in mind, but build them in a much less tidy, but ultimately more beautiful world, and old adage in electronics reminds us that

"oscillators amplify and amplifiers oscillate".

Assuming you use the common gain of 200 from the LM386 datasheet:

Reducing the overall gain is an option. This is accomplished by removing the capacitor between pins 1 and 8. This drops the gain down from 200 to 20.

Be advised that this will also take away some of the pleasant harmonic distortion possible with higher gain.

Because of this sacrifice, I found a solution that is much better.

In my personal device in which I had this problem, the oscillations occur only when driving a speaker, not when using the output directly at the line output. The fix is partially to stabilize the "load" of the speaker. This is done by adding a resistor and capacitor to ground at pin 5, also known as the "zobel network."

Another possible solution if is maybe even adding another larger capacitor to ground at pin 7.

These two solutions are illustrated here:

I hope this helps some people out.

My good friends (and future bandmates) are a duo called The South Seas Sneak in Pittsburgh.

They asked me to direct their music video.

I obliged.

I decided to take the painstaking task of recording this all in stop motion with my Game Boy Camera.

In case you don't have a Game Boy Camera and don't know how hellish of a process this is. The Game Boy Camera only holds thirty images, which turns into less than five seconds worth of video in this particular case. Which means I had to take thirty shots at a time, dump the sav onto my computer, then take thirty more.

After and entire weekend of shooting, I then had to go onto the internet to convert the images in the sav file to actual images. Then download those images and sort them into the stop motion software to make the video.

This still isn't finished and probably won't be for a while. There are still some things to take into account, such as the possibility of color filters, the time of the song they choose to use (they said to make the video two minutes, which it is exactly, but I may have to shoot more or cut something out), etc.

However, this is the rough scene sequence. Tell me what you think.

P.S. If you think it looks like the doings of a no-budget amateur, that's because it is.

This is good for beginners, but learning intervals is way too important for there to be a cheat sheet. It should just be something you force yourself to learn.

This should honestly be the first thing you know before composing music.
