Whaaaat? That IS pretty decent. Didn't know a stock ST could pull that off!
That genre of tracker/demo music was pretty much *everywhere* in the 90s. One of my favorites from that era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYD4tgILG4E
Wasn't there some kind of trick on a bog standard ST where samples could be divided amongst the (three? four?) channels and played semi convincingly (read: screeching like a banshee chained into the pits of hell) with synthesis of some kind or other?
Ok, sorry for the bump, but I just discovered this release today. That is some damn sexy tunes you got going on here sir n00bstar.
very impressive stuff!
why thank you sir I don't know how I feel about these tracks anymore haha. They were written over a year ago and they're the first two chiptunes I wrote since the Amiga days. I didn't know much about Klystrack back then. I like them, but I'm also a bit ashamed of the poor sound quality. I got a 10 song album coming out on Cheapbeats next month that sounds way the hell better
Yep, very cool tracks !
Love the beat/bass coldwave style.
Coldwave! I never thought of that! It's true that the old demoscene of the 80s/90s borrowed a lot of tricks from the [word here] Wave genres. Octave basses and stuff like that.
Don't quote me on that.. but I think you could pull it off with Octamed.
LET ME GUIDE YOU TOWARDS THE LIGHT BEFORE YOU JOIN THE RANKS OF THE EVIL GAMEBOY. KLYSTRACK. USE KLYSTRACK! WE HAVE TOO MANY CRAPPY GAMEBOY MUSIC ALREADY!!!!!!!!!
(that was all shift. only pussies use caps lock)
Yep. All of them almost as new in fact. The Moog, the guy didn't know what it was and it was kept in a closet for most of its life. The Wurlitzer, the guy knew exactly what it was worth but I suspect he was glad to sell it to someone who would appreciate and use it instead of dismantling it to sell the pieces like most people do so he let it go for real cheap. And the Nord Stage, I exchanged it for other gear that I paid 500$ for through a ton of weird deals/exchanged/etc. I have a long history of weird deals and exchanged.
A moth is an insect related to the butterfly, both being of the order Lepidoptera. Most of this order are moths; there are thought to be approximately 160,000 species of moth, with thousands of species yet to be described.
Lazerbeat told me I should "make it look like content" if I was to bump a thread just for the sake of bumping a thread in order to keep it on top of the list. So there, consider yourself vaguely educated on the Moth.
Also... why the hell are you people not throwing money and women at NBN? Go on.. worship. Fools.
Hahah well like I said, it just all sounds similar to me. In a way, all chiptunes do I guess. That's why I find fun and catchy melodies are important. It's especially true for "limited" platforms like DMG and NES where the basic palette of sounds is pretty narrow.
Well the melody doesn't do anything for me, but that's personal taste more than anything else. When the beat gets going it gets much better. Overall the song is quite okay. The only thing is that it sounds like three million other gameboy tracks out there, but yknow.. that's doesn't mean the song is bad at all. To me all DMG stuff sounds like it's put out by the same guy anyways. In fact, that is my theory. This entire forum is just one guy with 800 accounts
And I have to agree with Sycamore, who gives half a flying pink polka dot fuck about chipwin? It's a shitty compilation of bad songs. Make music that you like, and put it out there. That's all there is to it. Don't let nobody dull your sparkle darling.
You should ask on Amiga.org
Some of the people there have scary levels of knowledge of the hardware.
Sploosh. From the looks of it, it seems to be based on PT 2.x? As in, can you switch samples mid-note by putting only a new instrument number in the column? And more importantly, why do I ask you when I can download it and check it out myself? Also, hello. Plus... Yeah. ERm. RED BUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL. I really just wanna hear myself type right now. Yeah. So.... yeah.
So two years waiting time, no sample channel and faulty C4? I didn't think it was possible for something to make MidiNES look good... but hey...
I'd like to thank my agent, my parents, God, and the academy. It has been such an honour to be nominated alongside such great people, you are my inspiration.

(edit: also.. let's remember I didn't list the hundreds of terrible deals I made where I got fucked over )
I don't know that analogs were ever given for *pennies* really, even in the 90s. They were still too expensive for what they were even back then. 303s sold for 800-1000$ easily and a friend of mine had no problems selling his Jupiter8 for 3000$. Of course it's nothing like today where people have gone completely mad with this shit and are placing waaaay too much value on old synths. But yeah, I did buy it in the early 90s, but the reason for the price is mostly because I bought it from someone who didn't know the first thing about anything.
Having been in the music making thingamabob since the 80s and having worked with all kinds of technology, I can say that there is *NOTHING* to the old analogs that justify the kind of prices we see today, now that synth companies have finally taken their heads out of their digital asses and are pumping out analog gear again. Every single argument gearheads can make can be refuted easily. Are they FUN to work with? On some level yes.. but there are modern pieces of gear that are equally fun and so much more practical. That's why I hate collectors markets
Let's see now.. Moog MG1, Juno 106, TB303, TR505 606 707 909, DW8000, BassStation, Juno6, JX3P, ProMars, SH101, SH1000 and so many more, all purchased for less than 500$, and all sold back for two to three times their values to get more gear, that got sold too, to buy more gear, to sell, to buy, to sell... Then I got into the same shit with guitars, then it was electric pianos, then old tube amps... got into transistor organs for a while. God damn...the time and money I wasted! It was fun though
The only two I regret selling are the 303 and MG1, and both of them the reason is because they are so unique and quirky in the way you program them. All the others, I never looked back.
