It was a joke. Was actually just a cheeky dig at Tenners wink

I'd be thrilled to get a B-day mixtape.

Or a B-day RAGE-tape

Now... who placed bets on how long this thread was going to get?

I assume it's only going to get bigger.  First pick up for me is in 48hrs :-]

Hmmmm.... wander it would hold up to being jumped around with.... ? ;-)  (do has 7800 too, currently pretty useless to me!)

ps. Does anyone know if the Harmony would be compatible with this?

ITS THIS MONTH!

Amazing how quickly Feb has come around.  Looking forward to some great party times :-)

ps. Events either side of Blip will also be rocking - can't wait for the open mic session in AU; Hoping that we see a couple of new chip musos come out of the wood work ;-)

Least we forget what was big in the 90's!

Mega-btw: this is the earliest use of chip-like music (not just timbre) that I've come across. It was made with paper in Soviet in the 1930's. How about that? smile Start like one minute into the clip.

This is amazing.  I 100% get what they are doing and it's mind blowing.   I'll get this translated in the new year. (I live with a russian gal, although I'm not sure how she will go with the tech lingo!)

This is an early demo I recorded with it.  Details at: http://hackmeopen.com/?page_id=193& … amp;t=22.0

I'm working on a case for mine atm.

This God in pants mix is the shiz :-)

I still feel like pressing play on the trackers isn't right... What options do I have?

Well, if you are in a situation where you are just going to "press play" on a PC tracker, then why not break it into parts and drop it into something like Ableton Live or (better still) Maschine and use a cool surface to control your sequencing with the laptop shut?  It seems a bit silly when you have all that computing power to just hit play in a tracker and jump around.  Especially if you've already rendered the Famitracker waveforms.

If you do keep it running in the tracker, you could potentially add "loop" points and choose when to break the loops or switch channels / parts on and off on the fly (which is what I do on the Amiga).  I also channel split and put (in my case) CH 1&4 and 2&3 on separate channels of a Pioneer DJM800 which has mappible effects processor and dedicated pass filters.   Or I use a couple of Kaos pads if I can't take the 800.  Sometimes, due to the sound system, instruments need turning up and down to sit better in the mix on the fly too so it's worth keeping a listen to the track.  :-)

It has an introduction on it.  This is just the gAtari parts.  I actually have the entire gig prety much cut too.  Just need some time next week to finish it off :-)

i assume it would work with the harmony cart?

yes.  That's what I use to test all the time :-]

Optimiser module automatically adds comment marks to tune and suggests where repitition is so you can save memory and build bigger songs.  Still trying to automate rebuilding the sequence list - just need to write a better search and replace routine.  At the mo you have to follow the directions to what to find and replace.   It's getting there!  For now I'm off to Blip Tokyo and have got it working good enough to hopefully finish a new tune (which isn't that good, but it optimises well!)

not til next week. thursday.

Me and Fenner's are on the same flight on Wednesday.  We arrive at 6:30-am-ish on Thursday, then I grab a phone at the AP (mental note to remember!)  and head out to Shinjuku.  I think the plan was to do some kind of Diseny experience thing that day (still the plan Dosprompt?) - so if anyone wants to come along give us a hoy! (with phones, we should be able to orchestrate meeting you there)  Then it's probably a matter of getting prepared for 4 days of party party.  :-]   Will let you know my number when I get it!

I'm heaps excited - just put aside all my clothes to take (wooo!) -  but also working hard on a new track.  Just spent 20 hours with 3 text editor windows open hacking together a new track for the 2600.  I'm 1.2kb over my 4kb limit (inc. playcode) at the moment so drastically out of memory... but that's because I'm at 468 bpm (or 468 calls to the sound registers anyway) to get the tempo / kick sound I want. :-]  It's why we all use this hardware after all isn't it?!

ps. I'm in Japan until Nov 1st if anyone wants to hang out and do things around town.

I will get around to releasing this.  I'm forever faceplanting everytime I use it as I discover limitations and things I didn't think about.  I guess I just want to make a good tutorial so that when I do go "HERE!" it actually doesn't have too high expectations attached.  Oh, and the optimiser IS on it's way to working!  It just makes cart images which crash at the mo and I can't figure out why.  Gettin' there.

I tried it and I like it alot. Few things I noticed: when I preview instruments by pressing the play button the note that is triggered with the "Y" is a different note, a few octaves down. Also is there a pattern loop function?

I've you've ever been to Germany you'll know why ;-)  (keyboards are different layout!!!  I'm pretty much used to switching to euro-mode when it comes to using demo-tools!!!)

I'm up in Newcastle at mo on another project but will be back to Beta testing next week :-)
