Everdrive, cool. Yeah that's all I meant. I was inquiring as to the kinda flashcart/customcart you were using for it..

What cart was used for the megadrive?

Where'd you get your power strip?

The resistor does not go to the teensy, nor should pin3. Resistor just goes between gameboy pin 3 and gameboy ground. Value shouldn't matter too terribly much. You can even completely GND the pin with no resister if you want. Just know that if you use no resister, it will prolly make things like arduinoboy not work, because they use pin 3 for data input.

I used a 2.2KΩ cause it was just what I had, but you can use a 100KΩ, 47kΩ, 22KΩ, 2.2KΩ , or anything you have really. Just solder this at pin 3 of the port and to pin 6 of the link port. (or any other GND point on the pcb really.)

Quick analogy of what a pulldown resistor does: Electricity always wants to flow. It is more work to go through a resistor, but if it is the only route it will do it. If there is more than one connection it will take the easiest route it can (i.e. the path with the least resistance). When nothing is in the link port the only route for the electricity to go is through the resistor to ground. but when you feed a signal to it, it will ignore that path to ground (for the most part) and only worry about the signal coming in.

I'm by no means an expert, so I should not be viewed as an authority on the subject. This is just what I've come to understand about resisters when trying to work it out myself.

Getting a DMG to sync lsdj to midi is an easy fix... Put a pulldown resistor on pin 3 of DMG link port. done.

Love that color!

So I was SIDDUMPing some tunes today and also studying a SID register reference table when I discovered something interesting. The pulse width parameter has a range of 000-FFF with 800 being 50% duty cycle. But why when I look in the sequencers instrument page do I see only 32 values for the duty cycle? What gives? why does MSSIAH's pulse width 28 = hex pulse width 800, and why can't I play with very very thin pulses without resorting to modulation?  I don't want a modulated sound, but I DO want a very thin pulse to emulate a highpass filter sound. I don't see any reason on the face of things that explain such a restriction.

If you express an opinion on a discussion forum you should prepare for the fact that people might disagree with you, and in expressing that disagreement they aren't very different from yourself venting your thoughts. There's no need to go passive-aggressive and play it off like people are being particularly sensitive or anything; it's just normal course of discussion, and no one here seems to be trying to stop you from saying what you think.

Hmm, didn't take that into consideration. Fair point.

Now that all that is behind us, let's keep this thread on topic. We ventured further away than is necessary.

But hey, you might have a bunch of unfinished songs laying around. Do the responsible thing and release them for someone else to finish them.

Big difference I didn't make a big announcement and start releasing alphas and get all horny on the hype and praise. I believe that receiving praise for something before it's finished is the best way to kill enthusiasm for finishing it.

I don't really understand the defense, but I do understand why things are the way they are and why my 'oh I wish' fantasies aren't the norm. Just expressing my opinion in what I thought was an uncontroversial form. But I guess people get sensitive over many things these days, I should have known better then to put my personal feelings into what I type. *puts back on my 'I am happy and so should you be' mask*

But seriously, not upset. Only trying to write what I feel. No need for animosity.

You're very right. I shouldn't have used the word 'forced'. Just wish it was the standard convention to pass the torch if one feels like giving up. If more people did it it wouldn't be a big deal, but too many projects are just left to evaporate simply cause folks think keeping their code secret is so important.

I wish it was a standard practice for people that abandon projects to be forced to release source. If you are too lazy/busy to finish such amazing software you should pass it off to someone more reliable/capable/willing to follow through. Read in his interview about M4G that he stated he had never finished a project he has started. This makes it clear to me that he doesn't plan on coming back to us. However I would be delighted to be proven wrong.

Have you guys heard of www.furiousadvancetracker.com/ ?

Yes I have. I've messed around with it. but it's pointless unless we can utilize the GBA's DACs or at least play with the wav channel properly. It's not far enough along to be useful at all yet. It's like a simpler, and a feature lacking lsdj to me.

Nano loop looks too limited though. does it even utilize the two DACs? does it have song arranging, commands, tables?

Hmm, so is this abandoned or what? That would be a great shame if it is.

I actually have no idea about loading samples. Haven't really been able to get it running in an emulator yet. I'm hoping I can just store them on the same SD card and load it from the softwares load features. perhaps it uses a similar load feature to the one they are implementing for their song saves. But the video on the site implies that sample function is a feature of the tracker so I'd imagine they have thought of a process to make it feasible for users to load their own samples. I should really find the manual or help text to find out for sure.

Oh yeah and on M4G, there are FM Operators! I hope they work in the current alpha. heres his cm.o thread if interested. http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/177/m … and-ilkke/

I'm really aching to try out M4G. The UI is gorgeous.

I think you'll really like what the advance can bring to the table for music. It has digital to analog converters for proper sampling and some soft synth capabilities. For example, I currently use my GBA with the Spritesmods gbamidi cable. It uses the gba's multiboot feature to boot the rom straight off the AVR chip through the link port, no cart needed. It has an 8 note polyphonic softsynth included utilizing the DACs
