your speaker was broke to begin with, from your description of the wrapped wire coming loose...
i've heard of people doing this, and preferring it like this. haven't tried it myself. don't really see any reason why it wouldn't work, other than you using a broken speaker...
the glitchy logo sounds like the PCB inside has slipped slightly off-center.
look up into the cartridge, from the bottom where the edge connectors are, you can see if its aligned that way.
even less than a millimeter can get the pins touching/crossed, your symptoms are pretty classic for this.
and, do what kineticturtle said and put LSDJ on both sides of the cart (*if* you got the cart from us and requested LSDJ, its already been done for you unless you changed it).
also, LSDJ MUST!!! be on the menu all by itself. it will NOT share menu space. so, if you put LSDJ in both menus, its the only ROM you can have on the cart. If you just keep it in menu 1 and use menu 2 for something else, just keep it alone in menu 1. LSDJ doesn't like to share, at all...
thats alright, still happy to help.
you can next time

its not yet revealed to me yet
i mean... i can't say for sure yet, because the price is still a little fluid because of last-minute things...
you need to replace R1 with a resistor appropriate to the color of LED you are using.
the film that is lifting up could possibly be the ground plane, i don't have a PCB in fron tof me to check and see what it might be... too much heat will cause the layers of a PCB to come apart like that
its easy to replace though. just switch out the LED, and change the value of R1 if you need to do this. thats it, if you are modding a stock gameboy.
(8static folks are discussing the raffle, i'll let them speak to that, i just donate the bits)
the raffle item is the exact one seen in the picture. i'm keeping the other one. and the mould has already been changed so these are the only ones ever of this design.
thanks for all the nice comments! i'm trying to get these done quick, i know the wait sucks.
unless i've gone crazy
both the DMG-07 and DMG-04 cables have all the proper connections, including the 5V. this is the reason why people scavenge for these a bit.
the 4-player adapters are just ideal because you have more sections of cables with plugs on the end, and you've got to cut the cable anyways so doesn't matter.
so if you're using an official nintendo cable, you don't need to switch around the pins at all. if you've switched them on an official cable that already had the proper connections, then the solution is to either, 1) reverse the switching you did and fix it back, or, 2) just pay attention to your wiring connections, not really what the wires should be, what what they've become as a result of your pin switching.
i haven't done this in a realllly long time though, but i'm pretty sure both the DMG-04 and -07 have the 5V connected, unlike all the other cables around.
and to your other point, yes you can add an external power source, it needs to be regulated to 5V, +/-10%, and i think supply at least 500mA (i can't remember the PS/2 specs). you need to tie this into your ground and this will feed the keyboard's power. you can register key-presses then. the gameboy doesn't need the extra power,
hope that helps some.

Haha... i've mad a little mistake... It's Hypanaut and not Hypronaut...
Thanks!
oh, no problem, thanks for correcting me! i was googling to find more without much luck... but found it now. the Bleep or Die cover art is great too, not sure how that release slipped by my radar...

are your AK2i's updated for 3.0.0-6U?
i bought them quite a while ago, and they are exactly as a bought them then. so my guess would be no, but updating them shouldn't be too big a deal instructions are on the acekard website i believe. along with the most current firmware updates for the card.
some others from these forums have picked them up, one i know with the intention of updating it and running it on a DSi XL, and it seems to have gone fine.
link to the raffle?
thats not a bad idea.
i'll email and mention it, but make no promises. its much easier for them to do a local drawing methinks...
could that be an issue?
this is a HUGE problem in soldering. very common mistake.
there is such a thing as too much solder, and of course too little. the trick is to get only as much as you need, beyond this is a waste. just enough to work.
you've probably got what are called 'solder bridges,' meaning you joined two solder points together because too much solder. they touch with big globs of solder a lot.
the easiest way to get extra solder off is with stuff called 'desoldering braid', or a solder sucker. i hate the suckers though, personal preference...
So sexy. Are the internals the only OEM element? There's no chance that you would be able to do special orders on cases (i.e. no relief lettering, no speaker grill, etc.)?
yeah, the insides are basically a xerox copy, there are some tolerance issues and of course internal changes to compensate for the change in shape a little bit... but other than that its the same. 100% compatible, no changes needed to anything to make the switch...
to make a change like you mention would require a new mold, which is a ton of money. i *can* do it, but you don't want me to even give you the quote
*planning* on a matte finish.
these ended up glossy (the two samples) because when the texture was added, it created a bunch of flash around the speaker holes.
but, trying a new technique for this which hopefully will fix the issue.
