Actually, I don't know what anyone would think about this but how about having a "popular this week" section but without an actual rank?
As long as it's not on the front page, it could be cool

well people are back in school, so no surprise, but quality > quantity big time.
I have to agree with 4mat, a basic forum homepage is the least useful thing to have. I always click on "Recent Posts" anyway. I think the homepage should be 2 columns:
- Latest songs.
- Latest posts.
The worst thing about 8bc's homepage is the top list being right there... it means people look at that and not the newest stuff uploaded. A toplist is a great thing, but don't put it right in the front so it takes attention away from the new stuff.

As much as I want to hear everyone's tracks already, I don't want arfink to close this in a hurry just to get it done. It would be nice to have at least 8 tracks for a proper album. Also arfink you might want to PM people who have said they're interested but haven't sent anything yet.

Honestly I was not expecting the beautiful angelic sounds I heard when it started playing... this is amazing... if money was no object I would buy two so they wouldn't have to be lonely.

What about the artwork? And if you are paying for the rights to the songs, wouldn't you need to charge more than $1?

Pretty standard OCRemix stuff. I don't get how they can charge $1 for this... it's a clear violation of copyright (just sayin).
Saw this a couple weeks ago. It was bad enough when they didn't know the gameboy, but when they didn't know the record, I raged.

This post is the equivalent of walking into a homeless shelter and asking for money.
All seriousness aside, though, when Smiletron did a Kickstarter asking for donations because he was down on his luck and needed money to replace his equipment, he had 2 things going for him:
- A reputation for making great music and releasing it for free, even when he could have sold it (we all had his music in our iTunes by that time, and loved it)
- An offer to everyone that donated money, that each person would receive a download containing all of Smiletron's completed works so far, which was arguably worth paying for in itself
