Ah, I wonder if it's because it's a pretty high quality VBR MP3?

Odd. Even if you download it?

Was listening to his "Talking Book" album earlier for the first time in ages and I'd forgotten how utterly awesome the bass sound is on the track "Maybe Your Baby"

Anyone got insight into how he got that sound? I'm talking about the analogue-ish synth-sounding bass part not the clav running through a wah-wah pedal.

As a general comment, how do you feel the tutorials are pitched? They seem a bit "wordy" but there wouldn't be much point in me just saying "put this number here and this number there, job done!" or you'll never learn anything.

It takes a bloody long time to write them though. I might investigate the feasibility of doing a video next time, see how that pans out.

Tutorial part 2 on the website.

Have fun!

"Baby steps" tutorials like this are a great way to start.  Thanks!

Looking forward to Part 3 where you give us a lead instrument and the melody to "What Is Love" wink

LOL

If that's what you want, that's what you'll get smile

Tutorial part 2 on the website.

Have fun!

A very basic all in one tutorial (sort of like the Sabrepulse one for LSDJ) would be greatly appreciated

Got a link to that?

I'm not promising anything (personally I don't really have time to do something that will cover all aspects of NTRQ - the manual is 90 pages, that should tell you how big a job a cover-all tutorial would be! smile ) but I'll take a look.

Thanks everyone. I'm getting good positive vibes so far smile

Don't forget the NTRQ forums if there's anything you're struggling with or would like to see done as a tutorial or you want example .sav files of how to achieve with NTRQ. I haven't got time to make tutorials for everything but I'd be more than happy to do them on a case-by-case basis.

@everybody -- Don't forget about the "Donate" link when you go to download the result of Neil's hard work!  Karma, it's a beautiful thing.  smile

Dude, that's really kind of you. I'd forgotten to put out a gentle reminder in the heat of the moment.

No pressure then, eh? smile

In a very typical fit of "i just want to add one more feature", I'm currently, meticulously, checking a pretty big core change I've made.

On the positive side, so far, it looks like all the effort to make the thing (reasonably) robust and scalable has actually paid off.

Manual needs another pass to tidy some bits up and.....dare I say it?

It's (probably) ready to go.

And then you can all fuck off because I'm getting married in a little over two weeks.... smile

Heh, thanks Jonny

Yep, I'm aware of plenty of tapping solutions, I just wondered if there's something that you can just kind of leave running and will be constantly trying to sync to an incoming signal based on beat detection.

Can't be *that* hard can it?

@little-scale - thanks, I'll have a look at that smile

software or hardware? I know the korg EMX can but it heavily relies on a steady beat

Software preferably. I'd read about the EMX funnily enough - looks like a nice bit of kit but overkill for what I want.

The Max route could be interesting. I keep loading Max but end up staring at it for hours then quitting it with a headache... smile

Does anyone know if any of the sequencing/DAW big-boys have the ability to set song tempo in real-time from an incoming audio source?

I can't, as much as I want to sad

Just in the middle of fixing a few things with Pitch Bends and also tidying up the Live Play feature a bit. Then I need to do some testing and then I've a few edits to do on the manual.

As much as I love you all, I also want NTRQ to be in reasonable shape for V1.0 - the thought of being overwhelmed with support/help requests fills me with dread and it's no good for the end user either.

Soon.....very, very soon....

There's no point, seriously. I need to get this thing out and it's sooooooo close....
